Drew Loughnane of Bryn Mawr put together a solid even-par 71 round at Laurel Creek Country Club in Mount Laurel, N.J. to claim a victory in the 16-to-18 age group in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Tuesday.
Loughnane finished strong with a birdie on the back nine as he posted a 1-under 34 on Laurel Creek’s incoming nine.
It was six shots back to runnerup Sean Kelly of Lewisburg as he made two birdies in his round of 6-over 77. Joshua Cicco of Yardley had an even-par 36 on the front nine as he carded a 7-over 78 to nail down third place.
Five players landed on 8-over 79 in a tie for fourth place, including Spring-Ford senior Luke Watson, Ethan Finkelstein, who completed a solid scholastic career at Pennsbury last fall, Finkelstein’s teammate, Chris Myers, who will be a senior for the Falcons this fall, Luke Turse of Hainesport, N.J. and Robert Dominy of Moorestown, N.J.
Another incoming Pennsbury senior, Ryan Rearden, was just a shot behind the logjam for fourth place as he carded an 80 to finish alone in ninth. Pennsbury finished just two shots behind District One Class AAA champion Strath Haven in a tight battle for the team crown last fall.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Colton Murray of Sewell, N.J. and Adam Chen of Wynnewood, both of whom signed for an 82 as they finished in a tie for 10th place.
Matthew Normand of Lumberton, N.J. matched the strong showing by Loughnane, also carding an even-par 71 in an equally dominant six-shot victory in the 13-to-15 division. Normand delivered a 1-under 35 on the front nine at Laurel Creek on his way to the win.
Ethan Martin of North Wales and Justin Forman of Sewell, N.J. shared second place, each carding a 6-over 77. Martin toured the incoming nine at Laurel Creek in even-par 36.
Nathan Guertler of Merchantville, N.J. and Carson Thompson of Mount Laurel, N.J. finished in a tie for fourth place, each posting a 78.
Kevin Wortmann of Lords Valley took sixth place with an 81, Jack Dare of Moorestown, N.J. was seventh with an 83 and John Lee of Jamison was eighth with an 84.
Rounding out the top 10 were four players who finished in a tie for ninth place, each registering an 85, including Jake Micewski of Broomall, Kyle Spirt of Dresher, Aiden Farkas of Ardmore and Zachary Antao of Chadds Ford.
Katrina Cabinian of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. put together a solid back-nine 41 on her way to an 84 that left her atop the leaderboard in the girls 16-to-18 division. Ashley Ea of Perkasie had seven pars as she posted an 87 to earn runnerup honors.
Suzie Ahn of Paoli had a 50 on Laurel Creek’s front nine on her way to a 105 that gave her third place. Skye Mada of Cherry Hill, N.J. took fourth place with a 110 and Grace Flocco of Haddon Township, N.J. was fifth with a 152.
Hannah Puc of Marlton, N.J. toured the front nine in 43 with a birdie on her way to an 88 that earned her top honors in the 13-to-15 division. Curstan Bunch of Wilmington, Del. was the runnerup with a 93 that included a 46 on the front nine.
Nina Harris of Furlong had three pars as she took third place with a 110 and Brynne Mushlin of Berwyn rounded out the 13-to-15 field as she finished fourth with a 118.
You have to play some pretty good golf to come out on top in the competitive coed 12-and-under division and Hank Kancher of Philadelphia did just that, making two birdies in a 3-over 38 to best the field of nine-holers.
Davis Conaway, a Malvern Prep seventh-grader from East Bradford who has been a fixture at or near the top of the coed 12-and-under leaderboard all summer, had five pars in a 7-over 42 that earned him a runnerup finish.
Tyler Whitney of Cherry Hill, N.J. had three pars as he finished in third place with a 45. Anthony Proud of Stroudsburg was a shot behind Whitney in fourth place with a 46.
Jackson Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J., Jake Grossman of Elkins Park and Jason Mack of Delaware Water Gap ended up in a three-way logjam for fifth place, each signing for a 47.
Anthony Primo of Marlton, N.J. finished in eighth place with a 48 and Chloe Donohue of Moorestown, N.J. was ninth with a 49.
Jack Forstein of Moorestown, N.J. and Daniel Herzchel of Linwood, N.J. rounded out the top 10 as they each carded a 50 to end up in a tie for 10th place.
