Jack Rosen has been visiting the area from Boca Raton, Fla. this
week and came away with a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the
13-to-15 division Wednesday with a solid 5-over-par 75 at Pennsauken Country
Club in Pennsauken, N.J.
Rosen had a runnerup finish in the division in a Junior Tour
stop at Medford Lakes Country Club Monday, but his round at the 6,213-yard,
par-70 Pennsauken layout Wednesday, which included a birdie at the fourth hole
and 11 pars, was the best score of the day in either of the boys’ divisions.
Jack Dare of Moorestown, N.J. started fast with a birdie at
the first hole and closed with a par on the tough 18th hole as he
carded a 79 to earn runnerup honors among the younger guys.
A couple of Delco guys, Strath Haven sophomore Tyler
Debusschere, who helped the Panthers claim the first Central League crown in
program history last fall, and Jake Micewski of Broomall shared third place in
the 13-to-15 division, each signing for an 81.
Mathew Normand of Lumberton, N.J., coming off a victory in
the 13-to-15 division Monday at Medford Lakes, finished in a tie for fifth
place with Ethan Martin of North Wales, each posting an 83.
Thomas Wen of Basking Ridge, N.J. finished in seventh place
with an 85, Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J. was eighth with an 86 and Joseph
Fabian of Manahawkin, N.J. and Zachary Antao of Chadds Ford rounded out the top
10 as they shared ninth place, each coming in with an 88.
Stephen Cain of Yardley had birdies at the second and sixth
holes and six pars on his scorecard to finish atop the 16-to-18 leaderboard
with a 79 for his first Junior Tour victory of the season. Drew Davenport of
Haverford had a pair of birdies and five pars as he earned runnerup honors with
an 80, a shot behind Cain.
Ryan Horenci of Collegeville got it going on the back nine
with birdies at the par-4 12th hole and another at the par-3 15th
as he finished alone in third place with an 83. Griffin Haas of Avondale took
fourth place with an 83.
Three players landed on 85 and finished in a tie for fifth
place, including Gunnar Wegscheider of Boyertown, Robert Dominy of Moorestown,
N.J. and Nick DiPeitro of Swedesboro, N.J.
Malvern Prep senior Dimitri Collias headed a trio of players
who rounded out the top 10 as they finished in a tie for eighth place at 86.
Collias was joined at that figure by Luke Snyder of Exton and Ethan Kuhlkin of
New York, N.Y.
The best score among the girls at Pennsauken also emerged
from the younger group as Avery McCrery of Wilmington, Del. had eight pars in a
solid 81 that gave her the top spot in the 13-to-15 division.
Hannah Puc of Marlton, N.J. had two pars on the front nine
and three more on the incoming nine as she carded an 85 to earn runnerup honors
in the division. Clarissa Leung of Villanova got off to a good start with a par
at the first hole and sprinkled in four more pars on her scorecard as she
registered an 88 to claim third place.
Nina Harris of Furlong took fourth place with a 95 and
Brynne Mushlin of Berwyn rounded out the 13-to-15 field, finishing fifth with a
114.
Sarah Lawrie of Eagleville birdied the 16th hole
and Olivia Strigh of Hammonton, N.J. had four pars on her card as they each
posted an 86 to share top honors in the 16-to-18 division. Skye Mada of Cherry
Hill, N.J. had four pars in a back-nine 41 as she took third place with a 90.
Elizabeth Rafferty of Newtown finished in fourth place with
a 95, Annalyse Dickinson of Mullica Hill, N.J. was fifth with a 117 and Grace
Flocco of Haddonfield, N.J. rounded out the 16-to-18 field as she ended up in
sixth place with a 138.
Savannah Laverty of Moorestown, N.J. got a share of first
place in a tightly-bunched coed 12-and-under division with Jake Hollerback of
Millsboro, Del. as each carded a solid 6-over 41. Laverty followed up a birdie
at the par-4 fifth hole with a par on the sixth hole and Hollerback had six
pars on his card.
Hank Kancher of Philadelphia was a shot behind the top two
in third place with a 42 that featured five pars, including one on the tough,
395-yard, par-4 fourth hole.
A couple of West Chester entries, Davis Conaway and Kiersten
Bodge, were joined by Lawson Leeper of York and Daniel Herzchel of Linwood,
N.J. in a four-way logjam tied for fourth place at 43.
Jason Mack of Delaware Water Gap finished alone in eighth
place with a 44. Rounding out the top 10 were three players – Niklas Skjeveland
of Jamison, Benjamin Robbins of Holland and Anthony Proud of Stroudsburg – who
finished in a tie for ninth place, each coming in with a 47.
