Lawson Leeper of York birdied the fourth hole on his way to
a 2-over-par 38 at Merchantville Country Club as he claimed the victory in a
Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour event exclusively for the coed
12-and-under division Thursday.
It was the last of a series of three events on the Junior
Tour schedule devoted to the nine-holers.
Savannah Laverty of Moorestown, N.J. and Cameron Peffel of
Fleetwood shared runnerup honors as each signed for a 4-over 40. Laverty was
solid with five pars and four bogeys on her scorecard while Peffel had birdies
at the first and sixth holes.
Davis Conaway of East Bradford, who, along with Leeper, has
dominated the coed 12-and-under division in the wraparound 2019-2020 season,
finished alone in fourth place with a 42. Meredith Finger of Wilmington, Del.
and Jason Mack of Delaware Water Gap shared fifth place, each posting a 44.
There was a three-way tie for seventh place among Paul
Reilly of West Creek, N.J., Jackson Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J. and Daniel
Herzchel of Linwood, N.J., each carding a 45.
Hank Kancher of Philadelphia rounded out the top 10 as he
finished alone in 10th place with a 46. Jake Hollerback of
Millsboro, Del. took 11th place with a 47, Rocky Corrigan of
Haverford was 12th with a 48, Mitchell Liu of Garnet Valley was 13th
with a 54 and Luke Mathews of Aston was 14th with a 56.
Brayden Mitchell of Merchantville, N.J., Jacob Shachar of
Sewell, N.J. and Ian Rotto of Kennett Square finished in a tie for 15th
place, each checking in at 57.
