Chase Cohen, a freshman at The Haverford School, fired a
7-over-par 79 to capture top honors in the 13-to-15 division in a Philadelphia
Section PGA Junior Tour stop Saturday at Galen Hall Golf Club, a classic layout
in Wernersville, Berks County.
Cohen had three birdies in a solid effort over the
6,291-yard, par-72 Galen Hall layout. Jason Debusschere of Wallingford was the
runnerup as he trailed Cohen by two shots with an 81. Garnet Valley sophomore
Jacob Sokalsky finished third with an 86.
Matthew Hammond of Lumberton, N.J. took fourth with a 92,
Aaron Skii of West Chester was fifth with a 94, Stephen Cain of Yardley was
sixth with a 95, Evan Jozwiak of Sinking Spring was seventh with a 96 and Keith
Nelton of Malvern was eighth with a 98.
Michael Hall of Mountain Top finished ninth with a 100 and
Dante Billoni of Lancaster rounded out the top 10 with a 104.
Among the older guys, Shane Angle of Mountain Top won the
16-to-18 division in a match of cards with Sebert Walker of Wilmington, Del.
after both posted a 5-over 77. Angle’s even-par 35 on the back nine gave him
the tiebreaker edge.
Brock Fassnacht, the Warwick junior who won the PIAA Class
AAA East Region title last fall at Golden Oaks Golf Club, carded an 81 to
share third place with Logan Hess of Willow Street.
Tyler Kipp of Reading finished fifth with an 85, Bryan
Donato of Chester Spring was sixth with an 86 and Stephane de Brechard of
Brooklyn, N.Y. and Will Gerity of Yardley finished in a tie for seventh, each
posting a 91.
John “Jack” Hamilton IV of West Chester finished ninth with
a 92 and Jeffrey Reilly Jr. of West Creek, N.J. rounded out the top 10 with a
94.
Angelina Tolentino of Mount Laurel, N.J. continued her rapid
improvement as she birdied the first and last holes to take top honors in the
girls 13-to-15 division with an 81. Kayla Meletto of Sinking Spring was the
runnerup with an 86 and Jaclyn Santaguida of Kennett Square was third with a
142.
Lily Byrne of Downingtown, making her first Junior Tour
start of the spring, took top honors in the 16-to-18 division with a 104. Sara
Hill, another of the Hills of Mountain Top, and Anna McCormick of Harrisburg
shared second place, each carding a 108 and Peyton Kraras of Wyomissing
finished fourth with a 110.
Michael Maslanka of Taylor birdied the tough par-4 fifth
hole at Galen Hall on his to a 7-over 44 that gave him the victory among the nine-holers.
Nicholas Gross of Downingtown was the runnerup, just a shot behind Maslanka
with a 45.
Isaak Bloom of Bellefonte finished third with a 55, Elora
Walker of Philadelphia was fourth with a 58 and Emily Mayo of Boothwyn was
fifth with a 68.
