I’ll have to file this one under breaking news, since I
don’t have all the details, but Episcopal Academy took over the lead in the
Inter-Ac League race by edging reigning champion Malvern Prep by two shots in a
mini-tournament hosted by Germantown Academy Tuesday at Meadowlands Country
Club in Blue Bell.
The Churchmen finished with a 232 total and their 5-0 sweep
gives them a 12-3 mark through three mini-tournaments. Haverford School, which
finished third at 237 Tuesday, is in second place at 11-4 and the Friars, who
had a 234 total in finishing second Tuesday, are third at 10-5.
The mini-tournament hosted by Springside Chestnut Hill
Academy at Sunnybrook, postponed last week, will be played Wednesday.
Malvern Prep was led by sophomore Matt Civitella, who had a
1-over-par 37. Junior Matt Davis and sophomore John Updike, who won the
Pennsylvania Junior Boys’ title this summer, both came in at 2-over 38.
Rounding out the scorers for Malvern Prep were sophomore
Andrew Curran and Jack Hamilton, both of whom came in at 40.
