Ostroski gets hot at Skippack to capture a Junior Tour victory

Brett Ostroski’s golf game was as hot as the sweltering July weather we’ve been enduring as he made six birdies on the back nine at Skippack Golf Club on his way to a 4-under-par 66 Wednesday that gave him a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop in western Montgomery County.
Ostroski of Shavertown ended up with a 32 on the incoming nine at the par-70 layout as he finished seven shots clear of the field.
Andrew Beiter of Blue Bell, Nick DiPietro of Swedesboro, N.J. and Drew Loughnane of Bryn Mawr shared second place as each carded a 3-over 73. Each of the co-runnersup made a birdie on the 14th hole.
Pennridge senior Blake Stewart finished alone in fifth place with a 6-over 76. Seth Roth of Hatboro and Liam Buckley of Media were another shot behind Stewart in a tie for sixth place, each carding a 77.
Rounding out the top 10 were four players who ended up in a four-way tie for eighth place at 78. The foursome included Jeffrey Cooper of Norristown, Noah Kim of Royersford, Connor Cunningham of Dresher and Noah Sim of Ambler.
Kim was coming off earning co-medalist honors along with partner Luke Watson in the Junior Fourball Championship Tuesday at Saucon Valley Country Club.
Ethan Martin of North Wales had a pair of birdies on his way to a 2-over 72 that left him atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 age group.
Luke Fazio of Schwenksville, Zachary Antao of Chadds Ford and Kevin Wortmann of Lords Valley shared second place, each posting a 4-over 74. Fazio made back-to-back birdies at the 16th and 17th holes to earn his share of second place, Antao made a birdie at the 13th hole, and Wortmann registered an eagle on the 16th hole.
Will Huntley of Lansdale and Anthony Carson of Broomall shared fifth place in a tightly bunched leaderboard among the younger guys as each signed for a 75. Cyrus Parvizi of Gladwyne finished alone in seventh place with a 76.
Jarred Berish of Pottstown took eighth place with a 77, Jake Blackmore, another Pottstown entry, was ninth with a 78 and Shaun Mazzalupi of Wayne rounded out the top 10 as he finished alone in 10th place with a 79.
The best score among the girls at Skippack came out of the 13-to-15 age group as Hayley Ekert of Fairview Village earned the victory with an 80 that concluded with a birdie at the 18th hole.
Serena Bagga, who played on the boys team at Germantown Academy as a freshman last fall, was the runnerup with an 88 as she finished strong with a 42 on the back nine.
Silvana Gonzalez of Exton got it going on the back nine with a 41 as she finished in third place with a 91. Nina Harris of Furlong rounded out the 13-to-15 field as she took fourth place with a 105.
Ahsley Ea of Perkasie birdied the 14th hole as she claimed the top spot in the 16-to-18 division with an 83. Sarah Lawrie of Eagleville had three pars on her scorecard as she earned runnerup honors with an 87.
Sofia Gambone of Worcester had four pars as she took third place with a 91. Gwenaelle DeLeo of Lititz finished in fourth place with a 99 and Paige Damon of Manchester was fifth with a 105.
Malvern Prep seventh-grader Davis Conaway of East Bradford added another win in the coed 12-and-under division to his strong summer as he birdied the second hole on his way to a 4-over 39.
Thomas Ploszay of Berwyn and Ravi Khanna of Bryn Mawr finished a shot behind Conaway in a tie for second place, each signing for a 40. Avery O’Neill of Romansville took fourth place with a 41.
Ian Rotto of Newtown Square and Jason Mack of Delaware Water Gap shared fifth place, each carding a 43, and Jackson Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J. and Chase Mitstifer of Sinking Spring finished in a tie for seventh place, each posting a 46.
