Guertler's fast start helps him claim a Junior Tour victory at Running Deer


   Nathan Guertler of Merchantville, N.J. emerged with the best score of the day Wednesday as he carded a solid 3-over-par 75 at Running Deer Golf Club to lead the younger 13-to-15 age group and earn a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory.
   Guertler toured the front nine at the par-72 Running Deer layout in even-par 36 in claiming the win.
Sachin Blake of Berwyn had four birdies on his scorecard as he took runnerup honors with a 5-over 77, two shots behind Guertler.
   Matthew Normand of Lumberton, N.J., Ethan Martin of North Wales and Anthony Carson of Broomall shared third place, each posting an 80. Normand was steady on the back nine at Running Deer with seven pars in a 2-over 38.
   Thomas DiGiulio of Sicklerville, N.J. took sixth place with an 81, Strath Haven sophomore Tyler Debusschere, who helped the Panthers claim the first Central League title in program history last fall, was seventh with an 82 and Kendell Gordon of Burlington Township, N.J. was eighth with an 84.
   Kevin Zheng of Warren, N.J. finished in ninth place with an 85 and Luca Gherardi of Hammonton, N.J. rounded out the top 10 as he ended up alone in 10th place with an 87.
   There was a three-way logjam at the top of the 16-to-18 leaderboard as Robert Dominy of Moorestown, N.J., Luke Turse of Hainesport, N.J. and Michael Bozzi of Newtown Square each carded a 6-over 78.
   Dominy had seven pars while touring Running Deer’s back nine in 2-over 38. Turse had five birdies on his card. Bozzi had a pair of birdies on the back nine while matching Dominy’s 2-over 38 on the incoming nine.
   Francis Wren of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. finished alone in fourth place, a shot behind the top three with a 79.
   Bobby Nicholson of York and Jack Ross of Medford Lakes, N.J. shared fifth place, each carding an 80 and Adam Chen of Wynnewood and Jake Shmonov of Harrisburg finished in a tie for seventh place, each signing for an 81.
   Rocco Sanfelice of Woolwich, N.J. took ninth place with an 82 and Nick DiPietro of Swedesboro, N.J. rounded out the top 10 as he finished alone in 10th place with an 84.
   Olivia Strigh of Hammonton, N.J. claimed a win in the girls 16-to-18 division with a solid 81 that featured a 3-over 39 on Running Deer’s front nine. Katrina Cabinian of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. rode a back-nine 42 to an 86 that gave her runnerup honors.
   Skye Mada of Cherry Hill, N.J. had a 44 on the front nine on her way to a 92 that enabled her to finish in third place. Paige Damon of Manchester rounded out the 16-to-18 field as she took fourth place with a 100.
   Danielle Higbee of Mickleton, N.J. had a birdie on her card as she posted a 93 that gave her the top spot in the 13-to-15 division. Nina Harris of Furlong was the runnerup with a 103 that featured a pair of pars.
   Hank Kancher of Philadelphia and Jackson Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J. headed the field of nine-holers as each carded a solid 4-over 40. Kancher had three birdies on his card while Lane had six pars.
   Daniel Herzchel of Linwood, N.J. had two pars on his way to a 43 that gave him a third-place finish. Meredith Finger of Wilmington, Del. took fourth place with a 45, Trevor Sieben of Medford, N.J. was fifth with a 46 and Alaina Carson of Broomall’s Team Carson was sixth with a 49.
   Anthony Primo of Marlton, N.J. finished in seventh place with a 52, Jacob Shachar of Sewell, N.J. was eighth with a 56, Jesse Shurman of Villanova was ninth with a 68 and Emma DiPatri of Franklinville, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division with a 72 that left her alone in 10th place.
