Henry Sokol of Villanova had the best score of the day among the guys with a solid 2-over-par 73 at Coatesville Country Club June 13th to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory.
Sokol, playing in the 13-to-15 division, made birdies at the first, fifth, ninth, 11th and 18th holes and had seven pars on his scorecard to finish two shots clear of runnerup Ayden Gallen of Broomall. Gallen made a birdie at the fifth hole and had 12 pars on his card, including five in a row from the sixth through the 10th holes, as he earned runnerup honors with a 4-over 75.
Harry Traynor of Malvern and Scott Cunningham of Wayne finished in a tie for third place as each ended up two shots behind Gallen with a 77. Traynor made a birdie at the 11th hole and had 10 pars on his card while Scott Cunningham made birdies at the seventh and 11th holes and had 11 pars on his card.
Jake Patterson of Malvern took fifth place with a 78, Haverford School sophomore Jack Luterman was sixth with a 79, Walker Mannon of Phoenixville was seventh with an 80 and Pierce Drake of Glenmoore was eighth with an 83.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division were Landon Regenski, playing close to his Coatesville home, and Wissahickon sophomore Ty Sheftic as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each signing for an 86.
William Shuford of Wayne made birdies at the first, eighth and 12th holes and had eight pars on his scorecard as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with a 5-over 76.
Boyertown senior Chase Dillman ended up a shot behind Shuford in second place as Dillman made birdies on the first, seventh and 11th holes and had seven pars on his card on his way to a 6-over 77.
An eagle at the par-5 15th hole propelled Nathan Frazer of Radnor to a third-place finish, a shot behind Dillman with a 7-over 78. Frazer also had 10 pars on his card.
Christopher Mark Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. took fourth place with an 80 and the trio of Harriton junior Carson Deringer, Justin Marcus of Glenmoore and Zach Shragher of Jamison finished in a tie for fifth place, each recording an 81
Carson Holmes, a junior at Coatesville who was a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, took eighth place with an 82 and Michael Reardon of Springfield finished in ninth place with an 87.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division was the pair of Isaac Birdsong of King of Prussia and Trey Barkman of West Chester as they each carded a 90 to finish in a tie for ninth place.
Xinjuan Li of Pottstown had four pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division with an 87.
Downingtown West junior Malaina Druffner, who helped the Whippets capture the Ches-Mont League championship last fall, had three pars on her card as she finished three shots behind Li in second place with a 90.
Julia Hashem, playing close to her Coatesville home, had four pars on her card as she rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division by finishing in third place with a 101.
Macyn Linsley of Downingtown and Adriana Seravalli of Philadelphia shared the top spot in the 13-to-15 division as they each posted an 89.
Linsley had five pars on her scorecard while Seravalli had seven pars on her card.
Rounding out a short field in the 13-to-15 division was Shloka Vishwanath of Downingtown as she finished in third place with a 108.
Xuannan Dang of Newtown Square made back-to-back pars on the second and third holes while besting the field of nine-holers with a 7-over 42.
It was the second straight Philly Junior Tour victory for Dang, who topped the coed 12-and-under division field a day earlier at Valleybrook Country Club in Blackwood, N.J.
Eric Cunningham, another member of Wayne’s Team Cunningham, made back-to-back pars on the eighth and ninth holes to finish a shot behind Dang in second place with a 43.
John (Jack) Shea of Harleysville made a birdie at the fifth hole and had three pars on his scorecard to finish a shot behind Eric Cunningham in third place with a 44.
Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. and Steven Musacchio of Glenmoore shared fifth place, each signing for a 47, Michael Perry of Wilmington, Del. was seventh with a 48 and Ryan Comly of Newtown Square and Nolan English of Villanova finished in a tie for eighth, each recording a 49.
Jaxson Refold of Bryn Mawr rounded out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division as he finished alone in 10th place with a 50. It was a tightly-bunched group of nine-holers with just eight shots separating first place from 10th.
