Lake-Lehman sophomore Michael Lugiano put together a steady round at Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville Tuesday on his way to a sparkling 1-under-par 71 that gave him a victory in the 16-to-18 division of a Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour stop.
Lugiano made birdies at the third, 14th, and 15th holes and had 13 pars on his scorecard at the par-72 Woodstone layup.
Quakertown sophomore Nick Joyce, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, heated up on the back nine at Woodstone on his way to a 1-over 73 that earned him runnerup honors among the older guys. Joyce made birdies at the ninth, 14th, 15th and 17th holes and six of his nine pars came on the incoming nine at Woodstone as he fashioned a 3-under 33 on the back.
Owen Blazick of Mountain Top was six shots behind Joyce in third place with a 79 as he made a birdie at the ninth hole and eight of his 11 pars came on the incoming nine.
Will Dunsmore of Doylestown took fourth place with an 80, Jake Johnson of Wayne was fifth with a 92 and Daniel Orford of Doylestown and Quin Bongiovanni of Ardmore finished in a tie for sixth place, each signing for a 93.
Rounding out the field in the 16-to-18 division was David Fiorita of Jamison as he finished alone in eighth place with a 95.
Wyatt Underwood of Telford made a birdie at the sixth hole and had eight pars on his scorecard as he finished atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with an 81.
Gavin Pychinka of Northampton and Michael Liu of Garnet Valley finished in a tie for second place as they finished three shots behind Underwood, each carding an 84.
Pychinka had nine pars on his scorecard and Liu made a birdie at the 17th hole and had eight birdies on his card.
Ryan Sun of Morganville, N.J. and Collin Schreiber of Kunkeltown finished in a tie for fourth place, each posting an 86 and Carson Hummer of Hershey and Benjamin Robbins of Holland were another shot behind Sun and Schreiber in a tie for sixth place, each landing on 87.
Quinn McDonald of Hershey and Ian Yoo of Blue Bell shared eighth place, each recording a 91. Anderson Brexler of Doylestown took 10th place with a 96.
Max Miller of Hershey rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as he finished in 11th place with a 123.
Cierra Griffith of Pottstown was the lone entry in the girls 16-to-18 division and claimed a win with a 93, a round that featured three pars.
Camryn Hoff of Nazareth was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and got a victory with a 95 that also included three pars.
Onyu Park of Blue Bell bested the field of nine-holers with a 3-over 39 that was highlighted by three pars.
The Nazareth duo of Dane Mohap and Alex DiGiacinto went 2-3 with respective rounds of 40 and 43. Mohap had five pars in his solid 4-over round and DiGiacinto had three pars on his scorecard.
Mohap and DiGiacinto were coming off a respective 1-2 finish in the coed 12-and-under division in the previous week’s 36-hole Philly Junior Tour test at Hickory Valley Golf Club.
Preston Minio of Lansdale took fourth place with a 47, William Thorkelson of Bryn Mawr was fifth with a 59 and Jia Yan of Malvern rounded out the scoring in the coed 12-and-under division, finishing in sixth place with a 64.
