Logan Paczewski, a junior at Dallas, is a three-time PIAA Class AAA qualifier and he flashed his talent in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Olde Homestead Golf Club in New Tripoli, Lehigh County, firing a 2-under-par 70 to cruise to a six-shot victory in the 16-to-18 division on a beautiful late March Saturday.
Paczewski had six birdies on his scorecard, four of them on the back nine as he posted a 2-under 34 on his way to the clubhouse at the the par-72 Olde Homestead layout.
Three players, Guiseppe Debernardo of Dresher, Alexander McCauley of Maple Glen and Luke Fazio of Schwenksville finished in a three-way tie for second place, each posting a 4-over 76.
Debernardo struggled a little at the start before rattling off 13 straight pars to conclude his round, matching the card on Olde Homestead’s back nine. McCauley had two birdies and Fazio had three birdies in earning their shares of second place.
Jim Kelly of Slatington finished alone in fifth place with a 5-over 77 and Nick Parr of Spring City and Tyler Hager of Lehighton shared sixth place, each signing for an 80.
Joe Smith of Bethlehem took eighth place with an 84, Parker Farnell of Ambler was ninth with an 87 and Aiden Greenberg of Nazareth rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished alone in 10th with an 89.
Jacob Reibstein of Huntingdon Valley birdied the par-4 second hole and had nine pars on his scorecard as he finished atop the 13-to-15 leaderboard with an 81. Thomas Young of Center Valley earned runnerup honors with an 86, five shots behind Reibstein. Young opened his round with a pair of pars and birdied the par-5 eighth hole.
John Stevenson of Flourtown made pars on his last three holes and had seven overall in his round as he took third place with an 89. Brady Gallagher of Quakertown was two shots behind Stevenson in fourth place with a 91 and David Florita of Jamison finished fifth with a 93.
Noah Schurman of Macungie finished in sixth place with a 96 and Justin Edwards of Northampton rounded out the 13-to-15 field as he took seventh with a 114.
Saucon Valley junior Emma Shelby was the only competitor in the 16-to-18 division and her 7-over 79 was the best score of the day among the girls. Shelby, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, birdied the par-5 12th hole and had 10 pars on her scorecard.
Season Wei of Warren, N.J. birdied the par-3 fourth hole and had seven pars on her card as she earned top honors in the 13-to-15 division with a solid 82.
Curstan Bunch of Wilmington, Del. made back-to-back pars to open her round and finished with seven pars on her scorecard as she was the runnerup with an 87. Bunch was coming off a victory in the 13-to-15 division last Sunday in a Philly Junior Tour stop at Maple Dale Country Club. Natalie White of Bangor took third place with a 104.
Anthony Proud of Stroudsburg made pars on his first five holes and finished with seven pars as he bested the field of nine-holers with a solid 2-over 38.
Lawson Leeper of York and Jason Mack of Delaware Water Gap shared second place, each finishing five shots behind Proud with a 43. Leeper and Mack each had four pars on their scorecard with Mack making three straight pars at the sixth, seventh and eighth holes.
Holden Sparks of Nazareth took fifth place with a 44, just a shot behind Leeper and Mack, Niklas Skjeveland of Jamison was fifth with a 47 and Alex DiGiacinto of Nazareth was sixth with a 48.
Joseph Solt of Kunkletown finished in seventh place with a 52, J.D. Sivet of Hanover was eighth with a 53, Giula Weisser of Reading was ninth with a 54 and Ryan Kelly of Harleysville rounded out the coed 12-and-under division field as he ended up alone in 10th with a 59.
