Mark Heinz of Huntingdon Valley had nine pars on his way to
an 80 at Flourtown Country Club as he claimed the title in the Philadelphia
Section PGA Junior Tour’s 12-and-under Championship Friday.
The younger set had the stage to itself for this event and Heinz
won a BagBoy push cart with his solid round over the 5,427-yard, par-70
Flourtown layout.
Hank Kancher of Philadelphia had a birdie on the sixth hole
and two pars on the front nine and held a one-shot lead after the first tour of
the nine-hole Flourtown layout before finishing with an 82 that earned him
runnerup honors.
Joey McGinty of Lititz was another shot behind Kancher in
third place with an 83. McGinty had birdies on the ninth, 16th and
17th holes and carded a solid 3-over 38 for his last nine holes.
Hunter Probst of Bear Creek and Jax Puskar of Kennett Square
shared fourth place, each carding an 89, and Ethan Martin of North Wales and
Jake Grossman of Elkins Park finished in a tie for sixth place, each posting a
90.
A couple of Coopersburg entries, Frankie Boensch and Colin
Samoski accounted for the next two spots on the leaderboard as Boensch took
eighth place with a 94 and Samoski was ninth with a 96.
Sean Curran of Newtown Square rounded out the top 10 as he
posted a 103 to finish alone in 10th place. Curran was the runnerup
up to Jack Homer in the recent Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Junior-Junior
Boys’ Championship over the same Flourtown layout.
Benjamin Boyanoski of Scranton finished 11th with
a 104 and J.P. Klock of Oreland was 12th with a 107.
