Ethan Finkelstein, a Pennsbury junior who was a District One
Class AAA qualifier last fall, had a pair of birdies in a 5-over-par 76 that
gave him the top spot in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA
Junior Tour stop at Five Ponds Golf Club in Warminster.
John Bradbeer of Bryn Mawr was just a shot back in second
with a solid 6-over 77 over the 6,422-yard, par-71 Five Ponds layout. Noah Sim
of Ambler had a consistent round that featured 12 pars as he took third with a
78.
Nick Martin of Audubon finished fourth with a 79 and Will
Gerity, who, like Finkelstein, is a Pennsbury junior who qualified for
districts last fall, and Mario Ventresca III of Blue Bell shared fifth place,
each posting an 82. Three Yardley players finished in a tie for seventh at 83,
including another member of Team Gerity, Jack Gerity. He and Will are both
Class of 2020 entries, so it might be a twin situation. Joining Jack Gerity at
83 were fellow Yardley residents Christopher Myers and Stephen Cain.
Rounding out the top 10 were two players, Keith Nelton of
Malvern and Ryan Rearden, another Yardley guy, tied for 10th, each
carding an 84.
Radnor freshman Chase Stephano had a birdie on his way to a
6-over 77 that gave him a victory in the 13-to-15 division. Stephano had to
settle for a runnerup finish in a match of cards after another strong showing
last weekend at Indian Spring Country Club.
Ryan Garvey of Media also had a birdie on his card on his
way to a 78 that left him in second place, a shot behind Stephano. Matthew
Normand of Marlton, N.J. and Central Bucks West freshman Kevin Lydon, finished
in a tie for third, each posting a 79.
Kristof Kopecky of Garnet Valley finished alone in fifth
with an 80 and Alexander Feraco of Furlong and Daniel Shin of Horsham shared
sixth place, each posting an 81.
Christopher LaRosa of Lansdale and Liam Buckley of Media
finished in a tie for eighth, each carding an 81 and John Lee of Jamison
rounded out the top 10 as he finished alone in 10th place with an
83.
Kiera Bartholomew of Westampton, N.J. posted a solid 81 to
capture the girls 16-to-18 division, her third Junior Tour victory of the
wraparound 2018-’19 season. Olivia Strigh of Hammonton, N.J. made it a 1-2
finish for the Jersey girls as she posted an 87 to earn runnerup honors.
Mount St. Joseph sophomore Clare Gimpel, a two-time East Regional Class
AAA qualifier, finished third with a 92. Quakertown junior
Marilyn Siuta took fourth with a 96 and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy
sophomore Emma Schotsch was fifth with a 101.
Serena Bagga of Blue Bell claimed the top spot in the
13-to-15 division with an 84. Abigail Lynn of Furlong had a birdie on her card
on her way to an 87 that enabled her to finish second.
Archbishop Wood freshman Chaela Barnett, a Class AAA East Regional qualifier last fall, finished third with an 89, Emma
Reilly of Doylestown was fourth and Lola Barnett, another member of Hatboro’s
Team Barnett, was fifth with a 92.
Elora Walker of Philadelphia finished sixth with a 94, Mount
St. Joseph freshman Carolina Gola, a teammate of Gimpel’s on the Mount’s
District One Class AAA championship team last fall, was seventh with a 100,
Audrey Reese of Richboro was eighth with a 103, Sophia Brubaker of Wayne was
ninth with a 108 and Morgan Graves of Furlong rounded out the top 10 as she
finished alone in 10th place with a 118.
Carson Holmes of Thorndale bested the field of nine-holers
with a 5-over 40, earning his first Junior Tour victory of the wraparound
2018-’19 season.
Hank Kancher of Philadelphia emerged from a three-way tie
for second to get the silver medal in a scorecard playoff. Mason Tucker of York
matched Kancher’s 42 and was awarded third and Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J.,
who also carded a 42, finished fourth.
Hunter Probst of Bear Creek and Ethan Martin of North Wales
shared fifth place, each posting a 44. Kiran Bagga of Blue Bell’s Team Bagga,
finished alone in seventh place with a 46.
Alexander Gibbs of East Norriton finished eighth with a 47,
Paul Reilly of West Creek, N.J. was ninth with a 49, Nicholas Armitage of
Philadelphia was 10th with a 53 and Jack Fitzgerald of New Hope was
11th with a 61.
