Radnor junior Michael Sydnes outdueled, among others,
Central League rival Joey DelFranco, a senior at Marple Newtown, to capture top
honors in the 16-to-18 division as the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour
made a stop at Llanerch Country Club Monday.
Sydnes made back-to-back birdies on the back nine on his way
to a 6-over 77, which was two shots clear of Del Franco, Kyle Kellenbenz of
Maple Glen and Rob Robinson Jr. of Hatfield, all of whom shot 79. It was Sydnes’
third Junior Tour win of the year.
Also in the division, Marple Newtown senior Matt Deacon and
Jack Hirsh of Villanova finished in a tie for seventh with 85s, Daniel Bullock
of Wayne finished 10th with an 87, Conor Rinehart of Radnor and Joseph
Dougherty of Drexel Hill finished in a tie for 11th with 88s and
Jimmy Murray of Springfield finished in a tie for 15th with a 93.
It was a 1-2 finish for Delco in the 13-to-15 division as
well as Radnor’s D.J. Colleran and Episcopal Academy eighth-grader Case Hummer both
shot 5-over 76s with Colleran taking home the victory in a match of cards.
Colleran’s back-nine 36 was the difference.
Also in the division, Blake Stephano of Radnor finished in a
tie for sixth with an 82, Tyler Roland of Newtown Square finished in a tie for
10th with an 87, Cal Buonocore of Newtown Square and Johnny Hally of Havertown were
tied for 12th with 88s, Matthew Barkann of Newtown Square finished
in a tie for 16th with a 90, Joseph Morganti of Havertown finished
in a tie for 21st with a 93, Hayden
Smith of Havertown finished in a tie for 28th with 95, Haverford’s
Joseph Dugery finished 31st with a 96, and Joe Hayden of Havertown finished
in a tie for 32d with a 97.
Luke Watson of Royerford and Henry Fish of Malvern topped
the nine-holers with 42s with Watson taking the top prize on a match of cards. Also
in the division, Chase Stephano finished seventh with a 55, John Paul Hayden
finished eighth with a 57, Liam Buckley of Media finished ninth with a 59, Anthony
Ferretti of Aston and Charlie Hurchalla of Wallingford finished in a tie for 10th
with 60s, Charlie Bastien of Media finished 12th with a 63, Matthew
Buckley of Media finished 13th with a 66, Ryan Garvey of Media finished
14th with a 73 and Matthew Hurchalla of Wallingford finished 15th
with an 84.
Lily Byrne of Downingtown won the 13-to-15 girls division
with a 93. Notre Dame sophomore Brianna Marmorstein finished in a tie for
second with a 94 and Kathleen Mark of Media finished fifth with a 119.
Notre Dame senior Gabriella Morganti won the 16-to-18 girls
division with a 97.
With the Llanerch stop Monday drawing the bulk of the Delco
Junior Tour participants, not many made the trek to Mongtomery County for a
stop at Cedarbrook Country Club.
Eric Carlidge of Ambler won the 16-to-18 division with a
1-over 73.
Nicholas McLean of Yardley won the 13-to-15 division in a
match of cards with Caleb Ryan of Norristown after both shot 1-over 73s.
William Condran of Radnor finished in a tie for fifth with a 78, Jackson Beers
of Radnor finished 21st with a 91 and James Quinn of Radnor finished
23rd with a 93.
Casey Oppenheimer of Conshohocken won the girls 13-to-15
division with an 82 and Megan Bray of Lansdale took top honors in the 16-to-18
division with an 85.
Alex Mulrooney of Wilmington, Del. topped the nine-holers
with a 2-under 34. Luke Kelly of Wayne finished third with a 43 and Andrew
Damico of Havertown finished ninth with a 49.
The western end of Montgomery County was the site of Tuesday’s
Junior Tour stop at Landis Creek Golf Club (formerly known as Limerick).
Carson Bacha of York won the 13-to-15 division with a
sparkling 2-under 68. David Hurly of Newtown Square finished third with a 73,
Frank Rauscher of Wayne finished ninth with a 78 and Jack Hamilton of Wayne
finished in a tie for 12th
with an 83.
Dawson Anders of Telford won the 16-to-18 division with a
2-over 72.
Oppenheimer of Conshohocken earned her second 13-to-15 division
win in as many days with an 82.
Joshua Ryan of Norristown topped the nine-holers with a 40.
