Sokol remains in a groove as he earns a Philly Junior Tour victory at Berkleigh

Henry Sokol, a freshman on the Harriton golf team, carded a solid 3-over-par 75 at Berkleigh Country Club in Kutztown to capture a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 as summer hung on for one more weekend Oct. 4th.

Sokol was coming off finishing in a tie for fourth place in the Central League Championship at Turtle Creek Golf Course earlier in the week that earned him a return trip to the Turtle for the District One Class AAA Championship, which tees off Monday.

Henry Sokol, the reigning Graham Company Player of the Year in the Philly Junior Tour’s 13-to-15 division, made birdies on the sixth, ninth and 15th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard.

The challenging Berkleigh layout was once the site for the Betsy King Classic, a stop on the LPGA Tour from 1996 to 2004.

Taimoor Naseem, a talented 12-year-old from Sinking Spring, and Jesse Shurman of Villanova finished in a tie for second place, each posting a 6-over 78.

Naseem made birdies on the third, fifth and sixth holes and had eight pars on his card, including a string of four straight pars from the seventh through the 10th holes. Shurman had 13 pars in his steady round, including a run of five straight pars from the 13th through the 17th holes.

William Thorkelson, a freshman on The Haverford School golf team, took fourth place with a 79 and Henry Sokol’s twin brother Jack Sokol finished fifth with an 82.

Jack Sokol survived a playoff at Centrals and will join his twin brother Henry in the field for the District One Class AAA Championship at Turtle Creek.

Mason Kim, a freshman on the Wissahickon golf team, and Owen Fanning of Gap shared sixth place, each recording an 85 and Brayden Hughes of Hockessin, Del. was eighth with an 87.

Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division was a trio of players tied for ninth place at 91, a group that included Evan Hall of West Deptford, N.J., Benjamin Lear of West Chester and Alex Salata of Devon.

Collin Schreiber, a senior on the Moravian Academy golf team and a Kunkletown resident, made birdies on the seventh and 17th holes and had nine pars on his scorecard as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with a 5-over 77.

Logan Hyndman of Newtown and Jack Ferm, a junior on the Garnet Valley golf team, shared second place, each signing for an 80.

Hyndman, with one of the most familiar last names in the annals of Philadelphia amateur golf, made a birdie on the 14th hole and had 10 pars on his card.

Ferm, who punched his ticket to the District One Class AAA Championship by finishing in a tie for 10th place in Centrals, opened his round with a birdie on the first hole and had nine pars on his card, including a string of five straight birdies from eight through 12.

Vyom Shukla of Berwyn took fourth place with an 81, Braydon Dolan, a junior on the Springfield golf team was fifth with an 82 and Eoin Regan, a senior on the North Penn golf team, finished sixth with an 85.

Shane Cornell, a junior on the Avon Grove golf team, rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division, finishing in seventh place with an 87.

Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. came out on top of a crowded leaderboard of boys 12-and-under nine-holers as he made a birdie on the second hole and had five pars on his scorecard, including a run of four straight pars from four through seven, on his way to a 3-over 38.

It was the 12th win of the season for Dollard in a boys 12-and-under division that has been remarkably competitive throughout 2025.

Baylor Keim of Blue Bell, Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del., Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr and Aiden Jose of Brick, N.J. comprised a four-way logjam tied for second place, a shot behind Dollard, as each recorded a 4-over 39.

Keim had six pars on his card, Wang had a birdie on the sixth hole and had four pars on his card, Muego made a birdie at five and had four pars on his card and Jose closed out his round with a birdie at nine and had four pars on his card.

Helmut Dang of Newtown Square and Jaxson Freeborn of Reading were a shot behind that foursome in a tie for sixth place, each ending up with a 40, and Samuel Karas of Blue Bell finished eighth with a 41.

Rounding out the top 10 in the boys 12-and-under division were Connor Masulis of Pottstown and Joey Charpentier of Schwenksville, as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each registering a 43.

The top 10 in the division were separated by just five shots, the kind of competitive balance the young nine-holers have displayed all season.

Trisha Lobo, the talented 10-year-old from Collegeville, had four pars on her scorecard, running off three straight pars at the second, third and fourth holes, as she bested a short field of girls 12-and-under nine-holers with a solid 6-over 41.

Alexa Mcelwain of Schnecksville was the only other entrant in the girls 12-and-under division and she had a pair of pars on her card on her way to a 55.
