Ethan Saccente, a junior on the Mechanicsburg golf team, carded a solid 5-over-par 76 at The Country Club of Harrisburg to claim a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop June 29th.
Only the two boys 18-hole divisions competed at The Country Club of Harrisburg. The nine-holers had the stage to themselves in a Nine-Hole Series event at Phoenixville Country Club.
Saccente made an early birdie on the third hole and then added an eagle at the par-5 eighth hole. He had nine pars on his scorecard, including a pair of streaks of four pars in a row on The Country Club of Harrisburg’s incoming nine from the 10th through the 13th holes and again from 15 to 18.
Billy Nikolaidis, a junior on the Muhlenberg golf team, had 12 pars on his card, including a run of five straight pars from the second through the sixth holes, as he finished a shot behind Saccente in second place with a 6-over 77.
Tony Gracey and Zack Beaverson, both juniors on the Central York golf team, shared third place, each ending up a shot behind Nikolaidis with a 78.
Gracey made a birdie on the fourth hole and had 10 pars on his card. Beaverson made birdies at the second, eighth and 18th holes and had nine pars on his card.
Noah Levengood, who wrapped up his scholastic career at Owen J. Roberts last fall, took fourth place with an 80, Everett Harrold, a senior on the Central York golf team, was sixth with an 81, Carter Johnson, a junior on the Conestoga golf team, was seventh with an 82 and Grady Rupe, a senior on the Perkiomen Valley golf team, was eighth an 84.
Rupe was coming off a Philly Junior Tour victory the previous week at Berkleigh Golf Club.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Jaden Irvin, a senior on the Hershey High golf team, and Hayden Bartie, a senior on the Southern Lehigh golf team, as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each posting an 86.
Liam Woznicki, a sophomore on the Hazleton golf team, made birdies at the eighth and 11th holes and had seven pars on his scorecard as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with an 80.
Peter Heilman of Mechanicsburg had eight pars on his card, including three straight pars to close out his round as he earned runnerup honors with an 84.
Jayson Rush, a sophomore on the Hazleton golf team, had seven pars on his card as he finished in third place with an 85.
Jack Ferry of Port Deposit, Md. took fourth place with an 87 and Will Sylvester of Wayne and Colin McCabe of West Chester shared fifth, each recording an 89.
James Park, a sophomore on the Central Bucks West golf team, took seventh place with a 90, Ethan Moran, a sophomore on the Spring-Ford golf team was eighth with a 91 and Benjamin Lear of West Chester finished eighth with a 92.
Bobby Gladwin of Phoenixville rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished in 10th place with a 93.
