Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, Del. provided a big challenge for the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour players who teed it up there on a balmy first Saturday in November, but Anestis Kalderemtzis of Glen Mills managed to put together an 8-over-par 78 for the low score of the day.
Kalderemtzis made 11 pars, including a run of seven straight from the seventh through the 13th holes, to finish at the top of the leaderboard in the younger 13-to-15 division over the par-70 Deerfield layout.
Boyertown sophomore Chase Dillman had nine pars on his scorecard as he earned runnerup honors with an 80. Michael Liu of Garnet Valley also had nine pars on his card as he finished in third place with an 82.
Rudy Mench of Wilmington, Del. and Unionville sophomore Jax Puskar finished in a tie for fourth place as each posted an 85. Nick Belgrade, another Wilmington, Del. entry, and Nicolas Gaughan of West Chester shared sixth place, each signing for an 87.
Grant Burkhart of Kennett Square took eighth place with an 89 and Luke LaScala of Wilmington, Del. was ninth with a 90. Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division were Yaejoon Wee of Chesterbrook and Matthew Duphorn of Erial, N.J. as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each recording a 91.
Avon Grove junior Tyler Sikorski had nine pars on his scorecard as he earned a Philly Junior Tour victory by claiming the top spot in the 16-to-18 division with an 81.
Joshua Freeman of Middletown, Del. made birdies at the first, third and 13th holes and had seven pars on his card as he finished in second place with an 82. Evan Gebhart of Magnolia, Del. had nine pars on his card as he finished in third place, a shot behind Freeman with an 83.
Caleb Bennett of Pitman, N.J. took fourth place with an 85, Michael Dignazio of Wilmington, Del. was fifth with an 87, Owen Wise of Downingtown was sixth with an 83 and Rishabh Jupudi of Philadelphia was seventh with a 91.
Jackson Collonna of Avondale took eighth place with a 92, Darius Laws of Wilmington, Del. was ninth with a 96 and Matthew Miller of Meshoppen rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as he finished in 10th place with a 104.
Only one girl teed it up in the two girls divisions, but Meredith Finger of Wilmington, Del. certainly earned her victory in the 13-to-15 division with an impressive 8-over 78 on the tough Deerfield layout. Finger made a birdie on the 13th hole and had 10 pars on her scorecard.
Trebor Melendez of Vineland, N.J. made birdies on the third and seventh holes and had three pars on his scorecard as he bested the field of nine-holers with a 3-over 38.
Judd Fletcher of Moorestown, N.J. had three pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 42. Quinten Joiner of Millington, Md. made a par on the sixth hole as he took third place with a 46.
Ruben Yoon of Magnolia, Del. took fourth place with a 48, Winston Chew of Exton was fifth with a 49, a couple of Wilmington, Del. guys, Ben Meixell and Jacob Russell, were sixth and seventh with respective scores of 50 and 53, and Ibrahim Asrar of Downingtown was eighth with a 58.
Scott Campbell of Bel Air, Md., Megan Choi of Penn Valley and Steven Musacchio of Glenmoore finished in a tie for ninth place, each signing for a 59. Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division as he finished in 12th place with a 68.
