La Salle freshman Nolan Corcoran tamed the Lederach Golf Club layout in Harleysville to the tune of a 1-under-par 70 that was the best score of the day Saturday and gave him a victory in the 13-to-15 division in a stop on the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour.
Corcoran made a birdie on the third hole and then really heated up on the back nine with three birdies in a four-hole stretch at 10, 11 and 13. He also had 11 pars on his scorecard.
Boyertown freshman Chase Dillman also made four birdies at the third, sixth, eighth and 12th holes and had seven pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors among the younger guys with a 3-over 74.
Carson Jakuc of Newtown Square made birdies at the fifth and eighth holes and had seven pars on his scorecard, including five in a row to finish his round, as he finished alone in third place with a 79.
Shane Callahan of Schwenksville took fourth place with an 82, Michael Furey of Warrington was fifth with an 83, Alex Topping of Philadelphia was sixth with an 84 and Michael Slinkard was seventh with an 85.
James Schramek of Chalfont took eighth place with an 86, Radnor High freshman Will Walsh was ninth with an 87 and Wyatt Underwood of Telford and Jack Sweeney, playing not far from his Harleysville home, rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each signing for an 88.
William Aprahamian of West Chester had a steady round that featured a birdie at the ninth hole and 11 pars as he claimed the top spot in the 16-to-18 division with a 6-over 77.
Three players finished a shot behind Aprahamian in a tie for second place at 78, including Strath Haven junior Tyler Debusschere, who led the Panthers to the Central League title last fall, Germantown Academy sophomore Ajeet Bagga, who led the Patriots to the Inter-Ac League crown last fall, and Kevin Hochenberger of Stockton, N.J.
Debusschere made an eagle at the par-5 sixth hole, had a birdie at nine and had eight pars on his scorecard. Bagga made a birdie at the 18th hole and had 10 pars on his card. Hochenberger made a birdie at the fifth hole and had nine pars on his card.
Quakertown sophomore Nick Joyce, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, Episcopal Academy sophomore Hunter Stetson, the Bert Linton Inter-Ac individual champion last fall at Bluestone Country Club, and Will Dunsmore of Doylestown shared fifth place, each landing on 79.
Thomas Baschoff of West Chester took eighth place with an 80 and Brady Conion of Villanova and Michael Henry of Bryn Mawr rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as they finished in a tie for ninth, each posting an 81.
The best score of the day among the girls also emerged from the younger 13-to-15 division as Kayley Roberts, who will join older sister Kate on the Phoenixville team at the end of the summer, carded a steady 5-over 76 to claim a Junior Tour victory.
Kayley Roberts, the reigning Philly Junior Tour 13-to-15 division Player of the Year, had 14 pars, eight of them in a 1-over 36 on Lederach’s incoming nine.
Kayla Benson of Beach Lake made a birdie at the sixth hole and had six pars on her scorecard as she earned runnerup honors with an 83. Giula Weisser of Reading made a birdie at the 13th hole and had two pars on her card as she finished alone in third place with an 87.
Jillian Burks of Paoli took fourth place with an 89, Katherine Liu of Moorestown, N.J. was fifth with a 93 and Malaina Druffner of Downingtown rounded out the 13-to-15 division field as she finished in sixth place with a 103.
Carter Yearley of Wayne made a birdie on the second hole and had seven pars on her scorecard as she finished atop the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with an 83.
Pennridge junior Taryn Shine made a birdie on the 10th hole and had seven pars on her card as she claimed runnerup honors with an 84.
Phoenixville sophomore Kate Roberts, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, made birdies on the 14th and 16th holes and had five pars on her card as she finished alone in third place with an 86.
Abigail McCorkell of Schwenksville finished a shot behind Kate Roberts in fourth place with an 87, Gabrielle Courtney of Flourtown was fifth with a 96 and Olivia McQuarrie of Collegeville rounded out the 16-to-18 division field as she ended up sixth with a 114.
Ian Rotto of Kennett Square and Holden Sparks of Nazareth continued their strong run of play this spring as they shared the top spot among the nine-holers, each signing for a 3-over 38. Rotto made back-to-back birdies at the 16th and 17th holes and had four pars on his scorecard and Sparks closed his round with a birdie at 18 and also had four pars on his card.
Alex DiGiacinto, another Nazareth guy who has been playing well this spring, finished a shot behind Rotto and Sparks in third place with a 4-over 39 that featured five pars. A week earlier in a Philly Junior Tour stop at Bensalem Township Country Club, it was DiGiacinto topping the nine-holers with Sparks in second place and Rotto in third.
Sebastian Park of Lansdale took fourth place at Lederach with a 42, Alaina Carson of Broomall was fifth with a 45 and Justin Stickel of Churchville was sixth with a 47.
Thomas Carpenter of Bristol took seventh place with a 52, Preston Minio of Lansdale was eighth with a 53, Nicolette Bottos of Berwyn was ninth with a 54 and Jason Kim of Ambler rounded out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division as he finished alone in 10th place with a 55.
