Leroux fires 73 at Landis Creek to capture Junior Tour victory


   James Leroux of Radnor rattled off three birdies in a four-hole stretch on the front nine on his way to a 3-over-par 73 that gave him a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Landis Creek Golf Club in Limerick Tuesday.
   Leroux made birdies at four, five and seven over the 6,042-yard, par-70 Landis Creek layout in posting the best score of the day. Nathan Shaw of Hershey was the runnerup with a 5-over 75.
Joseph Taggart of Broomall finished third with a 78, Aidan Letendre of Ambler was fourth with an 87, George Wicks IV of Phoenixville was fifth with an 89 and Curran Bono of Collegeville took sixth with a 93.
   Patrick Traynor of Villanova took top honors in the 13-to-15 division with a solid 78 that featured back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes. Connor Gherghel of Orwigsburg was the runnerup with an 81.
   Kristof Kopecky of Garnet Valley finished third with an 82, Blake Stewart of Perkasie was fourth with an 84 and Rishi Khanna of Bryn Mawr was fifth with an 85.
   Keith Nelton of Malvern and Adam Scott of Harleysville shared sixth place, each posting a 96, and Nathan Jones of Wayne placed eighth with a 107.
   Stefanie Bonini of Bryn Mawr had the best score posted among the girls who teed it up at Landis Creek, her 88 giving her the top spot in the 13-to-15 division. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy sophomore Emma Schotsch of Philadelphia was the runnerup with a 90.
   Emma Reilly of Doylestown finished third with a 91, Ava Lichok of Downingtown was fourth with a 106, Lindsay Seeley of Camp Hill was fifth with a 111 and Bethany Julias of Schwenksville was sixth with a 132.
   Liv Juliana of Malvern had the second-best score among the girls as she carded an 89 as the only entry in the 16-to-18 division.
   Kate Roberts of Phoenixville and Brendan Reilly, another entry from Doylestown’s Team Reilly, shared the top spot among the nine-holers, each carding a 50.
   Another member of Phoenixville’s Team Roberts, Kayley Roberts, finished third with a 52. Another member of Bryn Mawr’s Team Khanna, Rajan Khanna, finished fourth with a 53 and Jillian Kloc of Mohnton was fifth a 64.
