Garrett Engle of Harrisburg had the day’s best round as he
shared the top spot in the boys’ 15-to-19 division with Luke Sample of New
York, N.Y. in an International Junior Golf Tour’s Pennsylvania Junior at Blue
Ridge Country Club Sunday.
Engle’s round over the 6,650-yard, par-72 Blue Ridge layout
included three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey as he carded a 2-over
74 after opening with an 81 Saturday. Sample had three birdies, three bogeys
and two double bogeys as he added a 4-over 76 to an opening-round 79 as he
joined Engle atop the final leaderboard at 155.
Jaden Weisman of Malvern, who had grabbed the opening-round
lead with a 76, fell back with an 84, but finished alone in third at 160.
Douglas Beney of Rye, N.Y. had a 90 to take fourth at 169 and Jake Aaron of
Harrisburg carded an 88 to finish fifth at 181.
On the girls side, Kendel Abrams of New Freedom struggled
with a 90 Sunday over a Blue Ridge course that measures 5,800 yards for the
girls, but easily held on to take the title. Abrams had built a big lead with
an opening-round 79 and finished at 169. Abrams’ round Sunday included a birdie
at the third hole.
Amanda Steier of Greencastle also had a 90 Sunday to finish
second at 182. Mary Kate Norcross (94-93) of Chambersburg placed third at 187,
Ellen Lee (101-103) of Allendale, N.J. was fourth at 204 and Janeyce McCray
(102-107) of Union, N.J. was fifth at 209.
