Elizabeth Beek of Blue Bell fired an 85 to take the top spot
in the 13-to-15 division as the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour made a
stop limited to the girls and the nine-holers at Green Valley Country Club
Saturday.
A consistent round was the key for Beek as she finished four
shots ahead of runnerup Maya Torpey of Malvern, who posted an 89.
Caitlyn Hagerty of Glen Mills finished third with a 101,
Olivia Strigh of Hammonton, N.J. was fourth with a 108, Grace Lu of Edison,
N.J. was fifth with a 110 and Kate Green of Bryn Mawr was sixth with a 120.
It was practically a home game for Casey Oppenheimer of
Conshohocken as she made the short trip to Whitemarsh Township and captured the
16-to-18 division with a 92. Lily Byrne of Downingtown was the runnerup with a
94.
It took a sudden-death playoff to determine the winner of
the BagBoy pushcart that went to the top finisher in a competitive group of
nine-holers. Darren Nolan of Glenside prevailed over Benjamin Saggers of West Chester
after both came in at 9-over 45.
Three other players – Aaron Skii of West Chester, Chase
Stephano of Radnor and Kristof Kopecky of Garnet Valley – finished another shot
back in a tie for third at 46. Ryan Garvey of Media, Sawyer Brockstedt of
Rehoboth, Del. and Nicholas Ciocca of Devon finished in a tie for sixth another
shot back at 47.
Sydney Yermish of Wynnewood finished alone in ninth with a
48 and Ajeet Bagga of Blue Bell rounded out the top 10 with a 49 to finish
alone in 10th.
