Parrish matches par at The Shore Club to capture a Philly Junior Tour victory

Christopher Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. is picking up right where he left off last fall as he matched par with a 71 at The Shore Club in Cape May Court House, N.J. Saturday to finish at the top of the overall leaderboard in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop.

Parrish was solid throughout the fall portion of the Philly Junior Tour. He finished in a tie for second place in the overall scoring in the two-day Philly Junior Tour spring opener last week up the coast at the Jersey Shore at Seaview Golf Club.

The Philly Junior Tour stop at The Shore Club was a Junior Golf Scoreboard (JGS) event for the boys with top finishers in the overall 13-to-18 age group earning points that can give them status on some of the higher-profile junior circuits, including the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA).

The Philly Junior Tour broke out its usual 13-to-15 and 16-to-18 age groups, so I will round up those divisions while referring to the overall scoring.

Parrish made birdies at the fourth, seventh, 15th and 18th holes and had 10 pars on his scorecard, eight of them in a back nine of 2-under 34, on his way to the top spot in the 16-to-18 division and in the overall scoring.

Looks like the ninth and 10th holes were under repair at The Shore Club, so players played the first and second holes again after the 18th to make for an 18-hole round. For late March, the weather wasn’t bad, although the wind started kicking up as the afternoon wore on.

Keller Tannehill of Margate, N.J. made birdies on the first, second and seventh holes and had 11 pars on his card, including a string of five straight pars from the 12th through the 17th holes, as he was the runnerup to Parrish in the 16-to-18 division and shared second place in the overall scoring with a 1-over 72.

Tannehill finished in a tie for second place in the overall scoring with Jackson Lane of Cinnaminson, N.J. as Lane finished atop the 13-to-15 division with a 72. I’ll get back to Lane.

Unionville junior Charlie Barrickman, who earned a trip to the PIAA Class AAA Championship for a second straight year last fall, made a birdie at the seventh hole and had 10 pars on his card as he finished in third place in the 16-to-18 division and fourth in the overall chase with a 5-over 77.

Haverford School senior J.P. Hoban, who helped the Fords capture the Inter-Ac League crown last fall, finished a shot behind Barrickman in fourth place among the older guys and fifth in the overall scoring with a 6-over 78.

Colin Burke of Wilmington, Del. was a shot behind Hoban in fifth place in the 16-to-18 division and sixth in the overall scoring with a 79.

Trevor Sieben of Medford, N.J. took sixth place in the 16-to-18 division and was seventh overall with an 81.

Braydon Dolan, a District One Class AAA qualifier as a sophomore for Springfield last fall, finished a shot behind Sieben in seventh place in the 16-to-18 division and was eighth overall with an 82.

Jack Ferm of Garnet Valley finished alone in eighth place among the older guys and ended up in a tie for 10th place in the overall scoring with Tyler Adair of Pipersville from the 13-to-15 division with an 87

Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Brian McCarty of Blue Bell and Gregory Kriz, a sophomore at St. Joseph’s Prep from Oreland, both of whom finished in a tie for ninth place with an 88.

Lane was really solid while running away from the field in the 13-to-15 division as he made birdies on the seventh and 11th holes and had 13 pars on his scorecard, including nine straight pars to finish out his round, in his 1-over round that left him in a tie for second place in the overall scoring with Tannehill.

Jack Sokol of Villanova made a birdie on the sixth hole and had six pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors among the younger guys and finished in ninth place in the overall scoring with an 86

Adair, a sophomore on the Central Bucks East golf team, had seven pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Jack Sokol in third place in the 13-to-15 division with an 87. Adair was the last player in the 13-to-15 field to earn a top-10 finish in the overall scoring as he was tied for 10th place with Ferm from the 16-to-18 division.

Jack Sokol’s twin brother Henry was part of a group of four players who finished in a tie for fourth place in the 13-to-15 division, each carding an 88.

Joining Henry Sokol in that quartet tied for fourth place were Lucas Solano of Vineland, N.J. and a couple of Wayne guys, Gavin Reger and John Peyton.

Sebastian Park of Lansdale took eighth place with an 89 and Jacob Ashenfelter of Glenmoore was another shot behind Park in ninth with a 90.

Rounding out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division was Blake Madonna of Lancaster as he finished in 10th place with a 99.

Isha Garg of Berlin, Md. topped a short field in the girls 13-to-15 division as she had nine pars on her scorecard on her way to an 83.

Garg was coming off a third-place finish in the overall scoring in last week’s two-day Philly Junior Tour season opener at Seaview.

Madison Cabot of Newtown rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as she had five pars on her card to take second place with a 94.

Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. made a birdie on the fifth hole and had two pars on his scorecard as he topped the field of nine-holers in the boys 12-and-under division with a 5-over 41.

Dollard was also coming off a solid start to his season as he finished in third place in the boys 12-and-under division in last week’s two-day Philly Junior Tour season opener at Seaview.

Aiden Jose of Brick, N.J. had four pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 46.

Nach Howard of Lafayette Hill made a par on the fifth hole as he took third place with a 55 and Domenic Scanny of Linwood, N.J. rounded out the field in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished fourth with a 59.
