Sung tames Linfield National with a 70 to claim a Philly Junior Tour victory

Conestoga junior Chris Sung put together a solid 1-under-par 70 at Linfield National Golf Club in Limerick Township to claim a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory July 29th in the 16-to-18 division.

Sung has been playing well this summer and that continued at Linfield National, where he made birdies at the eighth, 10th and 15th holes and had 13 pars on his scorecard, finishing up with pars on his last four holes.

Recent Penncrest graduate Ryan Anderson made birdies at the third and sixth holes, went back-to-back with birdies at 11 and 12 and had 10 pars on his card as he matched par with a 71 to finish a shot behind Sung in second place.

Ajeet Bagga, one of the Inter-Ac League’s top players at Germantown Academy, made birdies at the second and fourth holes and had 13 pars on his card, finishing up his round with pars on the last six holes, as he ended up a shot behind Anderson in fourth place with a 1-over 72.

Bagga will join the program at NYU later this month.

Boyertown senior Chase Dillman was a shot behind Bagga in fourth place with a 2-over 73 and Archmere Academy junior Michael Liu and Luke Daniels of Devon finished in a tie for fifth place, each posting a 5-over 76.

Liu, a Garnet Valley resident, helped the Auks capture the state championship in Delaware in the spring.

Springfield High junior Trent Graci took seventh place with a 77, Malvern Prep junior William Shuford was eighth with a 78 and Boyertown junior William Swartley and Perkiomen Valley senior Jacob Loladze rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division, as each recorded a 79 to finish in a tie for ninth.

Chase Andrews of Harleysville made back-to-back birdies at the fifth and sixth holes and had 12 pars on his scorecard, including a run of eight straight pars from eight to 15, as he finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with a 2-over 73 to earn a Philly Junior Tour victory.

Adam Cifra of Blue Bell and Patrick Hiltner of Northfield, N.J. shared runnerup honors as each tallied a 3-over 74 to finish a shot behind Andrews.

Cifra, coming off a Philly Junior Tour victory four days earlier at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club, made back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth holes, added birdies at 10 and 15 and had nine pars on his card. Hiltner made a birdie on the 14th hole and had 13 pars on his card, grinding out eight straight pars to finish his round.
