Beyer has the round of the day as Philly Junior Tour debuts a nine-hole event at DuPont's Montchanin Course

Normally, it’s just the coed 12-and-under division of a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour event that plays nine holes. But on a sparkling fall Thursday, the Philly Junior Tour debuted its first nine-hole event for all age groups at DuPont Country Club’s 1,716-yard short, par-29 Montchanin Course.

The best score of the day came from Meredith Beyer, who captured the girls 16-to-18 division with a 5-over-par 34. Beyer of Avondale birdied the second hole and had three pars, including a clutch par on her final hole.

Ava Svindland, playing close to her Wilmington, Del. home, birdied the fourth hole and had two pars as she earned runnerup honors with a 37. Ella Miller of Lumberton, N.J. made par on her first hole on her way to a 47 that landed her in third place. Mia Maretto of Hockessin, Del. rounded out the 16-to-18 field as she finished in fourth place with a 62.

Reagan Garnsey of Dover, Del. birdied the par-4 fourth hole as she registered a 7-over 36 to edge Meredith Finger of Wilmington, Del. by a shot and claim the top spot in the 13-to-15 division. Finger had three pars on her way to a solid 37.

Emily Mayo of Boothwyn had two pars, including one on the 165-yard, par-3 sixth hole, as she posted a 39 to take third place. Elisabeth Kehagias of Wilmington, Del. rounded out the 13-to-15 field as she finished in fourth place with a 41.

On the boys side, the best score of the day came out of the 13-to-15 division as Jamie Ciesielka of Woolwich Township, N.J. birdied the par-3 ninth hole on his way to a 6-over 35 that landed him atop the leaderboard. Evan Gebhart of Magnolia, Del. had four pars as he earned runnerup honors with a 39. Three of Gebhart’s pars came on three of the Montchanin Course’s toughest par-3s.

Darius Laws of Wilmington, Del. made a par on the 292-yard, par-4 fourth hole as he finished a shot behind Gebhart in third place with a 40. Alec Thiele of Philadelphia and Nick Linkchorst of Glen Mills shared fourth place, each signing for a 41.

Jack Coleman finished alone in sixth place with a 45 and Nathan DiProjetto of Brookhaven and Alex Ralsten of Newark, Del. rounded out the 13-to-15 field as they shared seventh place, each posting a 47.

Jack Brady of Newark, Del. had three pars on his way to an 8-over 37 that gave him the top spot in the 16-to-18 division. Joseph Fargnoli of Mickelton, N.J. also had three pars on his scorecard as he finished a shot behind Brady in second place with a 38.

Nick DiPietro of Swedesboro, N.J. and Rocco Sanfelice of Woolwich, N.J. shared third place, each carding a 40. Nathan Jones of Wayne rounded out the 16-to-18 field as he finished in fifth place with a 42.

A couple of Kennett Square guys, Ian Rotto and Grant Burkhart, went 1-2, respectively, in the coed 12-and-under division as each came in with a 41. Rotto had two pars on his scorecard and Burkhart had a par on the fifth hole.

Parker Alivernini of Wilmington, Del. had a birdie and a par in finishing in third place with a 44. Kembie Wellons of Montchanin, Del. rounded out the coed 12-and-under field, taking fourth place with a 46.
