Schnur has birdie-birdie finish to capture Junior Tour win at Bluestone

There is just so much golf going on right now, I got behind again, particularly on the Junior Tour, but I’ll catch up. It was just too nice a day to pass up a chance for a loop at Stonewall.

Nicholas Schnur of nearby Lafayette Hill birdied 17 and 18 to finish off a 2-over-par 73 in style and capture the title in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Bluestone Country Club in Blue Bell Monday.
Jerry Haftmann of Springfield was three shots behind Schnur in second with a 5-over 76 over the 6,565-yard, par-71 Bluestone layout. Haftmann’s round was highlighted by his first career hole-in-one as his 7-iron shot on the 177-yard 12th hole at Bluestone found nothing but the bottom of the cup.
St. Joseph Prep junior Joseph Morganti, a Havertown resident, shared third place with Christopher Waldmann of Malvern and Dylan Gooneratne, a District One Class AAA qualifier as a freshman at Plymouth-Whitemarsh last fall, as each carded a 6-over 77.
James Leroux of Radnor and Andrew Kirtly of Waverly finished tied for sixth at 79. Joseph Taggart of Broomall finished eighth with an 80, Brett Ostroski of Shavertown was ninth with an 81 and Cooper Kelly of Dallas rounded out the top 10 with an 83.
Corey Haydu of Doylestown matched Schnur’s 2-over 73 to take the top spot in the 13-to-15 division. Haydu was even-par on the back nine at Bluestone. Roy Anderson of Chadds Ford was just a shot behind Haydu in second with a 74.
Christian Matt of Springhouse finished third with a 76 and Adrian Jordan of Lawrenceville, N.J. and Jack Davis of Newtown Square shared fourth place, each posting a 77. Haverford School sophomore Chase Cohen of Villanova and Jack Farkas of Ardmore ended up tied for sixth at 78.
Strath Haven sophomore Jackson Debusschere finished alone in eighth with a 79. Rounding out the top 10 were three players – Malvern Prep sophomore Christopher Buysse, Nicholas Ciocca of Devon and Noah Sim of Ambler – who finished tied for ninth, each carding an 80.
Anisha Santi of Chester Springs emerged from a tight battle with Nadia Poncy of Tequesta, Fla. with a victory in the girls 13-to-15 division. Santi carded an 85 to edge Poncy by a shot.
Springside Chestnut Hill Academy sophomore Emma Schotsch finished third with a 91. Audrey Reese of Richboro and Abigail Lynn of Furlong finished tied for fourth, each posting a 98, and Nora Blatney of Wyndmoor was sixth with a 101.
Niosha Parvizi of Gladwyne and Julia Li of Hockessin, Del. shared seventh place, each carding a 102 and Caroline Gola of North Wales finished ninth with a 103.
Daniel Shin of Horsham had a pair of birdies in a 1-under 35 that gave him the top spot among the nine-holers. Ajeet Bagga of Blue Bell was the runnerup with a 43.
Ethan Martin of North Wales and Hank Kancher of Philadelphia finished tied for third, each posting a 45. Rhianna Gooneratne of Plymouth Meeting’s Team Gooneratne, George Deming of Philadelphia and Sachin Blake of Berwyn shared fifth place at 47.
Sean Curran of Newtown Square finished eighth with a 49, Kayley Roberts of Phoenixville was ninth with a 51, Brendan Burke of Churchville was 10th with a 52 and Kate Roberts of Phoenixville’s Team Roberts and Elora Walker of Philadelphia ended up in a tie for 11th at 57.
