Romanov's 74 gives him a Junior Tour victoiiry at Wilmington



   Nikita Romanov of Wilmington, Del. handled Wilmington Country Club’s North Course better than anybody on a sweltering Monday as he carded a 3-over 74 to win the 13-to-15 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour event.
   Romanov’s round over the 6,299-yard, par-71 North Course layout included four birdies with three of them coming on the front nine. Jordan Weisman of Malvern was the runnerup with a 75 that included birdies on the first and ninth holes.
   Hunter King of Atglen and Richard Kline III of Kennett Square finished in a tie for third, each carding a 76. T.Y. Brinker of Wilmington, Del. took fifth with a 77 and Jonathan Passarello of West Chester placed sixth with a 78. Rounding out the top 10 were four players – Alex Mulrooney of Wilmington, Del., D.J. Scott of Kennett Square, Blake Stephano of Radnor and Ryan D’Ariano of West Chester – who finished tied for seventh, each carding an 80.
    Reed Winkler of Wilmington, Del. captured top honors in the 16-to-18 division with a 5-over 76 that included a birdie on the 15th. Runnerup Jackson Cecchett of Wyoming, Del. had birdies at the fourth, ninth and 11th holes on his way to a 78.
   A logjam of six players finished tied for third at 81, including Michael Fiorile of Wilmington, Del., Luke Shevlin of Thornton, Jimmy Gillespie of Glen Mills, Kaden Kinard of New Castle, Del., Ryan Wagner of West Chester and Liam Ward of Malvern. Rounding out the top 10 were three players – Christian Rossi of Collegeville, Andrew Brown of Wilmington, Del. and Frankie Markiewicz of Middletown, Del. – who finished tied for ninth at 82.
   Casey Oppenheimer of Conshohocken had a strong back-nine 42 which enabled her to win the girls 16-to-18 division in a match of cards with Chichester senior Caprian Kan after both players carded an 87.
   Elise Clauser of Newark, Del. finished third with a 92, Liv Juliana of Malvern took fourth with a 95 and Alexandra Marcader of Ambler placed fifth with a 102. Maya Trujillo of Philadelphia finished sixth with a 114, Sera McClintock of West Chester was seventh with a 123 and Anne Shand of Lancaster was eighth with a 129.
   Maya Torpey of Malvern won the 13-to-15 division with a 90. Victoria Kim of West Chester was the runnerup with a 93. Christina Carroll of Bear, Del. finished third with a 95, Caitlyn Hagerty of Glen Mills was fourth with a 99 and Julia Li of Hockessin, Del. was fifth with a 115.
Henry Fish of Malvern topped the field of nine-holers with a 5-over 40. Hannah Lydic of Ocean View, Del. was a shot back in second with a 41.
   Jack Davis of Newtown Square finished third with a 42, Chase Stephano of Radnor took fourth with a 56 and Matthew Homer and Anthony Ciconte, both of Wilmington, Del., shared fifth place, each posting a 47.
   Matthew Normand of Lumberton, N.J. finished alone in seventh with a 48 and Henry Stone of Kennett Square, Jeffrey Homer of Wilmington, Del. and Ryan Garvey of Media rounded out the top 10 as they finished in a tie for eighth at 49,
   Nick Beckish of Clarks Summit won the men’s 17-to-24 division with an 82.
   Maddie Sager, the runnerup at the PIAA Class AAA Tournament as a senior at Owen J. Roberts last fall, captured the women’s 17-to-24 division with an 80. Devan McCarrie of Yardley took second with a 91, Emily Gilbert of Gilbertsville was third with a 82 and Annalia Kostow Lebanon of was fourth with a 116.
