Hansen fires 70 for Junior Tour victory at Laurel Creek



   Still catching up with the Junior Tour during a busy week. After this post with the results from Laurel Creek, I’ll get to Skippack Thursday.

   Buddy Hansen IV used a 1-under-par 70 to claim top honors in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Laurel Creek Country Club in Mount Laurel, N.J. Tuesday.
   Hansen had three birdies in putting together a sub-par round over the 6,518-yard, par-71 Laurel Creek layout. Andrew Gallagher of Mount Laurel, N.J. and Frederick Hammer of Wayne each had two birdies on their way to 2-under 73s that enabled them to finish in a tie for second.
   Caleb Ryan of Norristown finished fourth with a 78 and Matthew Gerber of Moorestown, N.J., Andrew Desjardins of Malvern, Matthew Davis of Doylestown and Declan J. McCabe of Philadelphia finished in a tie for fifth, each carding a 79.
   Casey Carson of Wenonah, N.J. took ninth with an 80 and Johnny Hernick of Moorestown, N.J. and Ryan Kim of Yardley rounded out the top 10 as they finished tied for 10th at 81.
   Alec Ryden of Moorestown, N.J. was playing on his home course at Laurel Creek and took full advantage of his local knowledge to win the 13-to-15 division with a 1-over 72. Ryden had two birdies on the front nine and played the back nine in even par. Akhil Giri, also of Moorestown, N.J., had three birdies in claiming runnerup honors with a 2-over 73.
   Maxwell Rubin of Marlton, N.J. finished third with a 77 and Hayden Greer of Moorestown, N.J., Luke Watson of Royersford and Alec Stern of Bryn Mawr finished in a tie for fourth, each posting an 83.
   Brett McGrath of Huntingdon Valley and David King of Cincinnati, Ohio finished in a tie for seventh at 84, Matthew Messenger of Moorestown, N.J. took ninth with an 87 and Stephen Cain of Yardley rounded out the top 10 with a 90.
   Camille O’Halloran of Northfield, N.J. took top honors in the girls 16-to-18 division with an 80. It was O’Halloran’s second win of the season. Rose Litt of Moorestown, N.J. finished second with a 112 and Megan Duman, also of Moorestown, N.J. took third with a 126.
   Taylor Oberparleiter of Laurel Springs, N.J. birdied the 18th hole to put the finishing touch on an 82 that gave her a victory in the 13-to-15 division.
   Christina Carroll of Bear, Del. was the runnerup with a 91, Grace Wang of Belle Mead, N.J. took third with a 98 and Olivia Strigh of Hammonton, N.J. placed fourth with a 99.
   Joshua Ryan of Norristown parred the last three holes to complete a solid 40 that gave him the top spot among the nine-holers. Matthew Normand of Lamberton, N.J. and Chase Cristella of Mount Laurel, N.J. shared runnerup honors, each carding a 49.
   Angelina Tolentino of Mount Laurel, N.J. finished fourth with a 52, Brooke Oberparleiter of Laurel Springs, N.J. was fifth with a 54, Jack Dare of Moorestown, N.J. took sixth with a 55, Nathan Guertler of Merchantville, N.J. was seventh with a 56, Charlie Hurchalla of Wallingford was eighth with a 59, Luca Gherardi of Hammonton, N.J. was ninth with a 64 and Matthew Hurchalla of Wallingford rounded out the top 10 with a 68.
