Notre Dame's Marmorstein a shore thing at Avalon

Havertown’s Brianna Marmorstein, a sophomore on Notre Dame’s Inter-Ac League powerhouse, fired an 86 at Avalon Golf Club Thursday to top the 13-to-15 age group for her first Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory.
Marmorstein finished three shots ahead of Casey Oppenheimer of Conshohocken. A thunderstorm early in the day delayed play before the junior golfers headed out for a 2 p.m. shotgun start.
In the boys 13-to-15 division, D.J. Colleran of Radnor posted a 4-over 75 over the 6,272-yard, par-71 Avalon layout to finish in a tie for third. Austin Barbin had a 1-under 70 to top the division.
Also in the division, Tyler Zimmer of Bryn Mawr finished in a tie for fifth with a 78, Cortie Fischer of Villanova and Stephen Anthony Schreder of Radnor finished in a tie for 15th with 85s, Joseph Dugery of Haverford was alone in 19th place with an 88, James Quinn of Radnor was in a tie for 20th with an 89 and Joe Hayden of Havertown finished in a tie for 22nd with a 92.
Davis Rosato of Villanova went 1-under on the back nine at Avalon on his way to a 2-over 73 that gave him the top spot in the 16-to-18 division.
Luke Shevlin of Thornton and Conor Rinehart of Radnor shared third place at 76, Jimmy Murray of Springfield finished in a tie for seventh with an 82, Ryan Brennan of Media was another shot back in 10th with an 83 and Joseph Dougherty of Drexel Hill finished in a tie for 12th with an 85.
Among the nine-holers, Darren Nolan of Glenside was the medalist with a 42. Charlie Bastian of Media finished in a tie for third with a 48, Ryan Garvey of Media finished in a tie for fifth with a 54 and Charlie and Matthew Hurchalla (I’m going to go ahead and guess that they’re brothers) of Wallingford finished eighth and ninth with a 55 and 61, respectively.
Camille O’Halloran of Northfield, N.J. won the girls 16-to-18 division in a match of cards with Marybelle Daclan of Galloway, N.J. after both carded 4-over 75s.

Check out Tom McNichol’s Golf Notebook in Saturday’s print edition of the Daily Times featuring a tie for second for Radnor senior Brynn Walker, the reigning PIAA Class AAA champion, at the AJGA Philadelphia Junior at Huntingdon Valley Country Club, a report on the Golf Association of Philadelphia Junior-Junior Boys Championship and the emergence of a talented group of Class of 2019 and Class of 2020 boys with Delco ties, and a report on the Pennsylvania Amateur championship from the Country Club of Scranton. The Notebook also appears on the delcotimes.com website that is your gateway to T Mac Tees Off.
