Hager's ace helps him claim a Junior Tour victory at Riverview

For Lehighton’s Tyler Hager, Sunday’s Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Riverview Country Club in Easton was special in a lot of ways.

First of all, Hager’s tee shot at the 130-yard fourth hole with a 54-degree wedge found the bottom of the cup for a hole-in-one. On top of that, Hager had six birdies on his scorecard with birds at the first, seventh, eighth, 10th, 16th and 18th holes.

It all added up to a 2-over-par 74 over the par-72 Riverview layout that gave Hager a victory in the 16-to-18 division. Michael Maslanka of Taylor had four birdies of his own at the third, seventh, 10th and 18th holes as he finished a shot behind Hager in second place with a 3-over 75.

Kevin Hochenberger of Stockton, N.J. and Joe Halferty of Blue Bell were another five shots behind Maslanka in a tie for third place, each carding an 80. Hochenberger made birdies at the seventh and 17th holes while Halferty birdied the second hole and had 10 pars on his scorecard.

Ryan Horenci of Collegeville and James Fickinger of Waverly shared fifth place, each landing on 81. Owen J. Roberts junior Victor Mominey took seventh place with an 83, Aiden Greenberg of Nazareth was eighth with an 84 and Sean Kelly of Lewisburg was ninth with an 85.

Benjamin Galko of Roaring Brook finished in 10th place with an 86 and Anthony Loria of Doylestown rounded out the 16-to-18 field as he ended up in 11th place with a 98.

The low score of the day was turned in by Michael Vital of Bethlehem’s twin Vital brothers as he had birdies at the third and seventh holes and 13 pars on his scorecard as he finished atop the 13-to-15 leaderboard with a 1-over 73. Vital made nine straight pars from the ninth through the 17th holes.

Charlie Ferrise of Phoenixville birdied the seventh hole and had 11 pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 7-over 79, six shots behind Vital. Aiden Farkas of Ardmore had 10 pars as he ended up two shots behind Ferrise in third place with an 81.

Noah Wallace of Elkton, Md. and Marshall Kain of Newtown Square finished in a tie for fourth place, each posting an 82. Brady Gallagher of Quakertown took sixth place with an 84, A.J. Molnar of Jamison was seventh with an 85, and Devin Carpenter of Philadelphia was eighth with an 88.

Noah Schuman of Macungie finished in ninth place with a 90. James Kurtzman of Madison, N.J. and Brady Gerrity of Wilkes-Barre rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as each carded a 92 to end up in a tie for 10th place.

The best score of the day among the girls came out of the 13-to-15 division as Season Wei of Warren, N.J., who has been having a strong spring on the Philly Junior Tour, birdied the seventh hole and had nine pars, including four straight to finish her round, as she carded an 82 to claim the victory.

Kayla Benson of Beach Lake had two pars as she earned runnerup honors with a 99. Gabrielle Becker of Franklin Lakes, N.J. had two pars as she took third place with a 103.

Emma Soltys of Warrington and Kaitlin Hummers of Bethlehem rounded out the 13-to-15 division field as each posted a 114 to finish in a tie for fourth place.

Carly Gavant of Hoboken, N.J. was the lone entrant in the 16-to-18 division and registered a 95 that included a birdie at the seventh hole and two pars.

Jason Mack of Delaware Water Gap completed a weekend sweep in the coed 12-and-under division as he had a birdie on the seventh hole and made four pars on his way to a 3-over 39 that bested the field of nine-holers. Mack had won the division with an even-par 36 in Saturday’s Philly Junior Tour stop at Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon.

Anthony Proud of Stroudsburg birdied the fourth and eighth holes as he claimed runnerup honors with a 4-over 40, a shot behind Mack. Wyatt Underwood of Telford had five pars, including four straight from the fifth through the eighth holes, as he finished a shot behind Proud in third place with a 41.

Holden Sparks of Nazareth and Onyu Park of Blue Bell finished in a tie for fourth place, each signing for a 42. Benjamin Mayer of Garnet Valley and Gavin Kozak of Phoenixville shared sixth place, each posting a 43.

Joseph Solt of Kunkletown took eighth place with a 45, Quin Zuegner of New Hope was ninth with a 46 and Hannah Webb of Woolwich, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the coed 12-and-under division as she finished alone in 10th place with a 47.
