Tyler Hager of Lehighton and Adam Chen of Wayne each carded a 7-over-par 79 at Galen Hall Golf Club, an A.W. Tillinghast gem in Wernersville, Berks County, to share first place in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour event Sunday.
Hager made birdies at the eighth, 13th and 16th holes and had eight pars on his scorecard. Chen was consistent with 11 pars. Owen J. Roberts junior Victor Mominey had nine pars, including four straight from the 10th through the 13th holes, to finish two shots behind the top two in third place with an 81.
Spring-Ford sophomore Jake Blackmore, Marple Newtown junior Jake Milewski and Aaron Skil of West Chester all landed on 83 to finish in a tie for fourth place.
Kevin Zhang of Warren, N.J. took seventh place with an 84, Nick Parr of Spring City was eighth with an 85, Downingtown East senior Dylan Gute was ninth with an 86 and Johnny Eitzen of Chester Springs rounded out the top 10 as he finished alone in 10th with a 90.
Conestoga sophomore Sachin Blake had four birdies on his scorecard at the second, eighth, 11th and 16th holes as he matched the low round of the day with a 7-over 79 that left him atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division.
Charlie Ferrise of Phoenixville had a birdie on the sixth hole and was really steady on the back nine with seven pars in a 4-over 39 as he earned runnerup honors with an 85. Shaun Mazzalupi of Wayne birdied the third hole on his way to an 86 that left him a shot behind Ferrise in third place with an 86.
Adam Farkas of Ardmore took fourth place with an 87, Alec Thiele of Philadelphia was fifth with a 90 and Shayne O’Doherty of Glenmoore, Brady Gallagher of Quakertown and Nick Linkchorst of Glen Mills finished in a tie for sixth, each signing for a 92.
Chase Dillman of Gilbertsville finished in ninth place with a 93 and Devin Carpenter of Philadelphia rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as he carded a 95 to end up alone in 10th.
West Chester Rustin senior Mary Emma Guldi was the lone competitor in the girls 16-to-18 division and she had seven pars, including three straight on the 13th, 14th and 15th holes, as she registered a solid 88. Guldi was a District One Class AAA qualifier last fall.
Makayla Stone of Garnet Valley was the lone competitor in the 13-to-15 division and, after starting with a par on the first hole, she added another on the 11th on her way to a 103.
Anthony Proud of Stroudsburg birdied the fifth hole and had six pars, including three in a row on the first three holes, as he continued his strong play among the nine-holers this spring with a 2-over 39 that gave him the victory in the coed 12-and-under division.
Holden Sparks of Nazareth matched Proud’s birdie on the fifth hole and had three pars on his card as he earned runnerup honors with a 4-over 41. Wayne Underwood of Telford had five pars, including three straight at the third, fourth and fifth holes, as he finished a shot behind Sparks in third place with a 42.
Lawson Leeper took fourth place with a 44, Jason Mark of Delaware Water Gap and Callahan Harrell of York finished in a tie for fifth place, each posting a 46 and Giula Weisser of Reading was seventh with a 46. Harrell and Mark finished 1-2, respectively, among the nine-holers in Saturday’s stop at Reading Country Club in Exeter Township.
Trevor Sieben of Medford, N.J. finished in eighth place with a 49 and Benjamin Robbins of Holland and Alex DiGiacinto of Nazareth rounded out the top 10 as they shared ninth, each carding a 50.
