With Saturday’s unusually warm March weather giving way to
rain showers, wind and falling temperatures, the best score of the day belonged
to Winston Kelenc-Blank of Rumson, N.J., who took top honors in the 13-to-15
division with a 5-over 77 in the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop
Sunday at Ballomar Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
Kelenc-Blank had three birdies over the 6,313-yard, par-72
Ballomar layout. Francis Wren of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. was the runnerup in
the division, 10 shots behind Kelenc-Blank with an 87.
Kendell Gordon of Burlington Township, N.J. finished third
with an 89 and Joseph Fargnoli of Mickleton, N.J. took fourth with a 92.
Michael Loper of Port Republic, N.J. finished fifth with a
102 and Jake Hennelly of Linwood, N.J. was sixth with a 110.
Carl Ernst of Mickleton, N.J. was the only other player who
was able to break 80 as his 6-over 78 gave him the top spot in the 16-to-18
division. Ernst got off to a good start with a birdie at the first hole.
Jake Maddaloni, who was a key contributor to The Haverford
School’s perfect run through the Inter-Ac League’s six regular-season
invitationals as a sophomore last fall, shared second place with P.J. Schulte
of Cape May Court House, N.J., each carding an 80.
Noah Petracci of Atco, N.J. and Ryan Dolan of Newark, Del.
finished in a tie for fourth, each posting an 84. Tyler Peters of Berlin, N.J.
took sixth with an 88 and Andrew Kapp of Cape May Court House, N.J. was seventh
with a 93.
Riley Mostecki of Linwood, N.J. finished eighth with a 95 and
Jacob Sprinsky of Haddonfield, N.J. was ninth with a 123.
As with the boys, the best round of the day among the girls
belonged to the winner of the 13-to-15 division as Ayse Mumco of Princeton,
N.J. made a successful Junior Tour debut with an 86.
Rhianna Gooneratne of Plymouth Meeting was the runnerup,
just a shot behind Mumco with an 87. Elora Walker of Philadelphia took third
with a 100.
Olivia Wirsching, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier who helped
Mount St. Joseph claim the District One team crown as a junior last fall,
captured top honors in the 16-to-18 division with a 93.
Katrina Cabinian of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. was the
runnerup with a 96 and Liberty Nuttall of Galloway, N.J. took third with a 112.
Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J. earned his first win of 2019
as he topped the field of nine-holers with a 9-over 45 on the front nine at
Ballomar. Paul Reilly of West Creek, N.J. was the runnerup with a 48.
Declan Conner of Swarthmore finished third with a 50 and
J.P. Klock of Oreland took fourth with a
62.
