Grady Rupe, a senior on the Perkiomen Valley golf team, carded a solid 1-over-par 72 at Meadia Heights Golf Club in Lancaster to capture a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division July 30th.
Rupe made birdies at the 14th and 17th holes and had 13 pars on his scorecard, including a string of eight consecutive pars from two through nine.
Ben Nowland, a junior on the Avon Grove golf team, went back-to-back with birdies at the 10th and 11th holes and had 12 pars on his card, including a run of six straight pars from four through nine, as he earned runnerup honors with a 3-over 74.
Nowland’s Avon Grove teammate, Shane Cornell, a senior who was a District One Class AAA qualifier a year ago, and John Thompson, a junior on the Phoenixville golf team, finished in a tie for third place, each tallying a 77.
Cornell had 13 pars on his card, including four straight pars to conclude his round. Thompson made a birdie at the 11th hole and had 11 pars on his card.
Reid Shultz, a junior on the Lampeter-Strasburg golf team, took fifth place with a 78, Austin Vicari, a junior on the Cumberland Valley golf team, was sixth with an 80, Felix Chen, a junior on the Lancaster Country Day School golf team was seventh with an 81 and Cole Eckenroth, a junior on the York Suburban golf team, finished eighth with an 82.
Dylan Campion of Bala Cynwyd took ninth place with an 84 and Charlie Jones of Villanova rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished 10th with an 85.
Ian Huber, a sophomore on the Manheim Township golf team, ripped off three consecutive birdies at the eighth, ninth and 10th holes and had seven pars on his scorecard as he earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with a 6-over 77.
Liam Woznicki, a sophomore on the Hazleton High golf team, made birdies at the sixth and 11th holes and had eight pars on his card as he was the runnerup with a 78 that left him a shot behind Huber.
Bryce Bussom of Lewisburg and Jack Bishay of West Chester shared third place, each signing for an 82.
Bussom made a birdie at the eighth hole and had nine pars on his card. Bishay had 11 pars on his card, including a run of four consecutive pars from the seventh through the 10th holes.
Benjamin Lear of West Chester took fifth place with an 83, Chandler Lutz, a sophomore on the Exeter golf team, was sixth with an 85, Toby Lerner, a junior on the Hatboro-Horsham golf team, was seventh with an 86 and Ty Thompson of Devault was eighth with an 88.
Owen Fanning, a Gap resident and a sophomore on the Malvern Prep golf team, took ninth place with a 95 and Josiah Zimmerman of Camp Hill rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished 10th with a 96.
The best score among the girls came from the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division as Raegan Young of Middletown made birdies at the 13th and 16th holes and had six pars on her scorecard while recording a solid 81.
Reagan Miller, a junior on the Lampeter-Strasburg golf team, finished strong with back-to-back birdies at the 16th and 17th holes and had five pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division with an 86.
Greta Polanco of Malvern made a par at the 14th hole as she was the runnerup in a short field in the 16-to-18 division with a 117.
Jack Kolmer of Wayne, in the midst of a strong summer on the Philly Junior Tour, made a birdie at the sixth hole and had four pars on his scorecard, closing out his round with consecutive pars at seven, eight and nine, as the bested the field of 12-and-under nine-holers with a 4-over 39.
Lorenzo Carbonel of Mount Joy made birdies at the fourth and sixth holes and added a par at nine as he earned runnerup honors with a 5-over 40.
Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. opened his round with back-to-back birdies at the first and second holes as he finished in third place with a 43.
Samuel Karas of Blue Bell and Smith Rawes of Elkins Park shared fourth place, each tallying a 49 and Ethan Hong of Radnor finished sixth with a 52.
Victor Nikolaus of Haverford rounded out the field in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished in seventh place with a 67.
