Dover's Leeper is steady while claiming a Philly Junior Tour victory at Iron Valley

Dover junior Lawson Leeper, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier in each of the last two fall scholastic seasons, carded a 5-over-par 77 at Iron Valley Golf Club in Cornwall near Lebanon to claim the top spot in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Sunday.

The Philly Junior Tour was forced to cancel Saturday’s stop at Landis Creek Golf Club in Limerick after overnight rains left the course unplayable. Things had dried up considerably for Sunday’s stop at Iron Valley, but it was still chilly and the wind kicked up as the day wore on.

Leeper made a birdie on the eighth hole and had 12 pars on his scorecard, including five straight pars to finish out his round.

Luke McGraw, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier as a sophomore at State College last fall, made birdies on the seventh and 16th holes and eight pars on his card as he finished just a shot behind Leeper in second place with a 6-over 78.

Joey Solt, a freshman on the Palmerton golf team, and Brayden Schnabel, a junior on Souderton’s golf team, finished in a tie for third place, each posting an 80.

Solt made birdies on the third and sixth holes and had eight pars on his card and Schnabel made a birdie at the second hole, an eagle at the par-5 16th and had seven pars on his card.

Ty Sheftic, a sophomore on the Wissahickon golf team, took ninth place with an 84 and Zach Raihill, a West Chester Rustin junior, rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished 10th with an 86.

Daniel Ross of Harleysville made birdies on the third and 16th holes and had seven pars on his scorecard as he finished at the top of the scoreboard in the 13-to-15 division with an 82.

Steven Musacchio of Glenmoore took ninth place with a 94 and Landon Chandler of Lancaster rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as he finished alone in 10th with a 95.

Gabrielle Kim of Ambler made a birdie on the sixth hole and had four pars on her scorecard as she claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 13-to-15 division with a 92.
