Parrish's steady round gives him a Philly Junior Tour victory in Rehoboth Junior Open

 

   Christopher Mark Parrish of Woolwich Township, N.J. carded a solid 4-over-par 76 to capture a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in the 16-to-18 division in the Rehoboth Junior Open June 17^th at Rehoboth Beach Country Club at the Delaware beach.

   Parrish had a lone birdie at the 17^th hole, but had 13 pars on his scorecard with eight of them in a 1-under 35 tour of the incoming nine of the Rehoboth Beach layout.

   Recent Abington Heights graduate Alec Hamilton, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, earned runnerup honors with a 6-over 78 that left him two shots behind Parrish. Hamilton made a birdie at the 12^th hole and had 11 pars on his card, including a run of seven in a row from the fourth through the 10^th holes.

   Kie Shaw of Wilmington, Del. finished in third place among the older guys with an 80 as he had 12 pars on his card, including six pars in a row to close out his front nine.

   Adam Zink of Dover, Del. took fourth place with an 81, Brandon Carrigan of Warrington was fifth with an 83, Liam Gallagher of Lansdale was sixth with an 85 and Devon Prep junior Chris Pullano, who helped the Tide capture the PIAA Class AA team crown last fall, was seventh with an 87.

   Joel Perry of Wilmington, Del. took eighth place with an 88, Noah Vari of Newark, Del. was ninth with a 91 and Cole Dopke of Woolwich Township, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as he finished in 10^th place with a 95.

   Ayden Gallen of Broomall matched Parrish for the low round of the day as he claimed the top spot in the 13-to-15 division with a 4-over 76. Gallen made birdies at the 12^th and 17^th holes and had 11 pars on his scorecard to earn a Philly Junior Tour victory.

   Ryan Sun of Morganville, N.J. and Joseph Kelly of Wilmington, Del. shared second place among the younger guys as each finished two shots behind Gallen with a 78.

   Sun got hot in the middle of his round with birdies at the seventh, ninth and 11^th holes and he had 11 pars on his card. Kelly made a birdie at the fourth hole, went back-to-back with birdies at 12 and 13 and had seven pars on his card.

   Quinten Joiner of Millington, Md. and Andrew Carroccio of Newtown Square shared fourth place, each tallying an 80, and a couple of Wilmington, Del. guys, Owen Newmark and Parker Alvernini, held down the next two spots on the leaderboard with Newmark in sixth place with an 81 and Alvernini in seventh with an 82.

   Tate Stoner of Boiling Springs and Brendan Schott of Wilmington, Del. finished in a tie for eighth place, each registering an 83 and Henry Nowak of Wilmington, Del. and Michael Bonczak of Fort Washington rounded out the top 10 in in the 13-to-15 decision as they ended up in a tie for 10^th, each posting an 84.

   Pretty strong showing by the younger guys as only eight shots separated the top 11 finishers in the division.

   A couple of Delaware’s top junior girls, Kylie Yiengst, a senior at Polytech, and Meredith Finger, a junior at Archmere Academy, battled it out in the girls 16-to-18 division with Yiengst claiming a one-shot victory with a 4-over 76.

   Yiengst, who finished in third place in last month’s Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) Championship at Maple Dale Country Club, made birdies at the fourth, seventh and 11^th holes at Rehoboth Beach and had 10 pars on her scorecard, including six straight pars from the 12^th through the 17^th holes.

   Finger, who finished in sixth place in the DIAA Championship, made birdies at the first, fourth, eighth and 10^th holes and had nine pars on her card, including five straight to conclude her round, as she ended up a shot behind Yiengst with a 5-over 77.

   Lilly Regan of Philadelphia rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as she finished in third place with a 148.

   Chloe Donohue of Moorestown, N.J. made birdies at the seventh and 11^th holes and had seven pars on her card as she earned a Philly Junior Tour victory in the 13-to-15 division with a solid 80.

   Isha Garg of Berlin, Md. had six pars on her card, five of them on the outgoing nine at Rehoboth Beach, as she earned runnerup honors with a 92.

   Ellie Wells of Millsboro, Del. had seven pars, five of them on the incoming nine at Rehoboth Beach, on her card as she rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division by finishing in third place, a shot behind Garg with a 93.

   Brody Rollins of Milton, Del. bested the field of nine-holers as made back-to-back birdies at the fourth and fifth holes and had four pars on his scorecard on his way to a 1-over 37.

   Preston Minio of Lansdale finished up his round with a birdie at the ninth and had four pars on his card to earn runnerup honors with a 3-over 39.

   A couple of Thomas boys, Patrick Thomas of Hockessin, Del. and Jonathan Thomas of Landenberg, finished in a tie for third place, each signing for a 43. Patrick Thomas made a birdie on the fourth hole and had two pars on his card and Jonathan Thomas made a birdie at nine and had pars at seven and eight.

   Peter Van Dalen, playing close to his Rehoboth Beach, Del. home, and Connor Clayton of Mays Landing, N.J., finished in a tie for fifth place, each registering a 44, and Matthew Bowman of Newtown and Victor Wang of Hockessin, Del. shared seventh place, each recording a 49.

   Carter Tracy of Smyrna, Del. took ninth place with a 52, Michael Perry of Wilmington, Del. was 10^th with a 55 and Thayer Boyd of Kennett Square rounded out the field in the coed 12-and-under division as he finished 11^th with a 56.
