With unseasonably cold weather breaking for a nice little
warmup Sunday, the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour made its final stop in
the fall portion of the wraparound 2019-2020 season at Mainland Golf Course in
Harleysville.
The best score of the day among the guys came out of the
younger 13-to-15 division as Luke Corcoran carded a solid 2-over-par 72 over
the 5,132-yard, par-70 Mainland layout to capture the victory.
Corcoran had brides on the first, 12th and 15th
holes to offset three bogeys and a double bogey as he finished four shots ahead
of runnerup Connor Gherghel of Orwigsburg, who carded a solid 6-over 76. Ajeet
Bagga of Blue Bell and Matthew Normand of Lumberton, N.J. finished another three
shots behind Gherghel in a tie for third place, each carding a 79.
Winston Kelenc-Blank of Rumson, N.J. finished in fifth place
with an 82, Connor Toussaint of Lansdale was sixth with an 84, Ethan Martin of
North Wales was seventh with an 85 and Hunter Stetson of Newtown Square was
eighth with an 87.
Patrick Doran of York took ninth place with a 90, Jonathan
Seifarth of Schwenksville was 10th with a 96 and Jack Crowley of
Wayne was 11th with a 106.
Mario Ventresca III of Blue Bell had birdies at the sixth
and 18th holes to offset four bogeys and a double bogey as he earned
a victory in the 16-to-18 division with a 4-over 74.
Jack Farkas of Ardmore chased Ventresca all the way to the
end, even matching Ventresca’s birdie at the 18th hole, but finished
a shot behind him in second place with a 5-over 75. Farkas also had a birdie at
the second hole. His two birdies offset three bogeys and two double bogeys.
Chris Waldmann of Malvern continued his strong play all fall
as he finished alone in third place with a 77. Waldmann was coming off a
victory in Saturday’s Junior Tour stop at Buena Vista Golf Course.
Dominic Della Penna of Harleysville finished in fourth place
with an 83, Robert McNelly of Collegeville was fifth with an 85, Luke Snyder of
Exton was sixth with an 88 and Aidan Kilcoyne of Collegeville was seventh with
a 92. Justin Pileggi of North Wales and Sean Maguire of Wayne shared eighth
place, each posting a 97.
Erica Honadel of Bel Air, Md. made a birdie at the second
hole and had three pars on her scorecard as she carded a 92 to claim top honors
in the girls 16-to-18 division. Honadel was also credited with a win in the
13-to-15 division Saturday at Buena Vista. Whatever division you want to call
it, Honadel was the best female player to tee it up on the Junior Tour this
weekend.
Mary Emma Guldi of West Chester was the runnerup to Honadel
with a 96.
Mark Heinz of Huntingdon Valley bested the field of
nine-holers with a solid 4-over 39 that featured a birdie at the sixth hole and
four pars. Ethan Legarda of Voorhees, N.J. was the runnerup with a 42.
Hank Kancher of Philadelphia and Davis Conaway of West
Chester finished in a tie for third place, each carding a 43. Kancher was
coming off a Junior Tour victory in the coed 12-and-under division Saturday at
Buena Vista.
A.J. Molnar of Jamison took fifth place with a 48, Max Myers
of Furlong was sixth with a 53 and J.P. Klock of Oreland was seventh with a 60.
