Stone tames Landis Creek layout with 73 to capture a Junior Tour win

Henry Stone of Kennett Square carded a solid 3-over-par 73 to claim a victory in the 13-to-15 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Wednesday at Landis Creek Golf Club in Limerick.
Stone had a string of six straight pars on the front nine and made a birdie on the 10th hole for the low score of the day over the 6,042-yard, par-70 Landis Creek layout.
Matthew Normand of Lumberton, N.J. had back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth holes and finished strong with birdies at the 16th and 18th holes to post a 4-over 74 and finish a shot behind Stone in second.
Stone and Normand were teammates on the Delaware I team, based at Hartefeld National Golf Club, that advanced to the 7th PGA Junior League Championship last fall at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Zachary Sandler of Gladwyne birdied the seventh hole on his way to a 77 that gave him a third-place finish. Jack Leon of Downingtown took fourth with a 79, Ryan Horenci of Lansdale was fifth with an 80 and Lucas Steinmetz of Gilbertsville was sixth with an 82.
Cyrus Parvizi of Gladwyne finished seventh with an 85, Caleb Cavazos of Havertown was eighth with a 92 and Nicholas Birdsall of Devon was ninth with a 120.
Austin Lauver of Lancaster carded a solid 6-over 76 to take top honors in the 16-to-18 division. Justin Dougherty of Wyndmoor had a 36 on the front nine at Landis Creek on his way to a 77 that left him a shot behind Lauver in second place.
Riley Mostecki of Linwood, N.J. had 10 pars and a birdie at the fifth hole on his scorecard as he took third with a 78. Wissahickon senior Samuel Barsh finished fourth with a 79, Blake Stewart of Perkasie was another shot behind Barsh in fifth place with an 80 and Ty Thornton of Warminster was sixth with an 82.
Rounding out the top 10 were four players tied for seventh place at 84, including Cyril Leahy of Gladwyne, Connor Loftus of Berwyn, Michael Tallarida of Philadelphia and Christian Strohl of Reading.
Some of the Inter-Ac League’s top girls were prominent in both girls divisions at Landis Creek.
Baldwin freshman Megan Adelman had the best score of the day among the girls as she made birdies at the 10th, 14th and 15th holes on her way to an 82 that gave her the top spot in the 13-to-15 division. Adelman finished seventh in the Inter-Ac League Championship at the French Creek Golf Club to round out her eighth-grade season in May.
Rhianna Gooneratne of Plymouth Meeting was the runnerup with an 86 that featured six pars. Emily Scavuzzo of Downingtown took third with a 116.
Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s Emma Schotsch had 10 pars on her way to a victory in the 16-to-18 age group with an 86. It was the first Junior Tour win of the season for Schotsch. Kathleen Mark, a sophomore on Episcopal Academy’s second straight Inter-Ac championship team in the spring, had seven pars on her way to an 88 that gave her runnerup honors.
Schotsch finished third and Mark ended up in a tie for fourth at the Inter-Ac League Championship at French Creek.
Harriton junior Niosha Parvizi posted an 89 that featured four pars as she took third place. Alexandra Rasmussen of Lansdale finished fourth with a 102.
Hunter Probst of Bear Creek carded a 15-over 49 to take top honors among the nine-holers. Colton Orris of Hershey was the runnerup with a 52.
