Bradbeer, Anderson match par at Kennett Square to share top spot in Junior Tour event

John Bradbeer of Bryn Mawr and Roy Anderson, a junior at Unionville, each matched par on a hot and sunny Tuesday to share top honors in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at the Kennett Square Golf & Country Club.
Bradbeer got off to a hot start with three birdies on the front nine and added a birdie on the 16th hole to card an even-par 71 over the 6,205-yard, par-71 Donald Ross design at Kennett Square. Anderson’s scorecard included 12 pars and birdies on the fourth, ninth and 16th holes.
Plymouth-Whitemarsh junior Dylan Gooneratne had a birdie on each nine in registering a 3-over 74 that enabled him to finish third. Alec Stern of Bryn Mawr was another shot behind Gooneratne in fourth place with a 75.
Corey Haydu of Doylestown and Ryan McCabe, who finished in a tie for second in the PIAA Class AA Championship as a sophomore at Devon Prep last fall, shared fifth place, each posting a 76. Strath Haven senior Nick Cardow was another shot behind Haydu and McCabe in seventh place with a 78.
Episcopal Academy senior Case Hummer, working his way back into shape after missing his junior season with injury, and Michael Bozzi of Newtown Square finished in a tie for eighth place each carding a 79.
Three players -- Garnet Valley senior Jake Sokalsky, Jack Sehon of West Chester and Hunter King of Atglen – rounded out the top 10 as they ended up in a tie for 10th, each posting an 80.
Eli Shah of Newtown Square had birdies on the second and 13th holes on his way to a 2-over 73 that gave him a victory in the 13-to-15 division. Robert Dominy of Moorestown, N.J. registered back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes to earn runnerup honors with a 76.
Chase Marinacci of Elverson and Matthew Normand of Lumberton, N.J. shared third place, each carding an 80. Marinacci had three birdies in his round and Normand had a pair of birdies on his scorecard.
There were four players tied for fifth at 81, including Drew Clark of Kennett Square, Graham White of West Chester, Kristof Kopecky of Garnet Valley and William Lesko of Villanova.
Rounding out the top 10 were four more players, three of them from West Chester – Nicklaus Meisinger, Aaron Skii and Eric Miler – and Matthew Pulcinella of Chadds Ford tied for ninth place, each posting an 83.
The best score of the day among the girls at Kennett Square came from Sawyer Brockstedt, the phenom from Rehoboth Beach, Del. who fired a sparkling 1-over 72 to take top honors in the 13-to-15 division. Brockstedt, who qualified for the 2018 Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals at Augusta National, had 13 pars and made birdies on the seventh and 16th holes.
Mary Grace Dunigan of Kennett Square had three birdies on the front nine and two more on the incoming nine as she carded a solid 76 to claim runnerup honors. Dunigan was the runnerup in the Women’s Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Junior Girls’ Championship earlier this month.
