Ryan's steady 69 earns him a Junior Tour victory at The Bucks Club

Caleb Ryan’s game appears to be in good shape heading into the District One Class AAA Championship.
Ryan, a senior who represents Norristown High during the high school golf season, fired a 1-under-par 69 to capture the top spot in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at The Bucks Club in Jamison Saturday.
It was a remarkably consistent round for Ryan, who is hoping to make a third straight trip to the PIAA Championship in his senior season. Ryan had 17 pars and a birdie on the 10th hole as he earned his first Junior Tour victory of the wraparound 1018-’19 season.
Zachary Loninger of Crosswicks, N.J. was the runnerup with a 76. Caleb Ryan’s younger brother Joshua, a sophomore on the Norristown High golf team, finished third with a 78.
Joshua Ryan captured the Pioneer Athletic Conference title a couple of weeks ago with a 1-under 70 at Gilbertsville Golf Club, edging big brother Caleb by a shot. Joshua Ryan joined Caleb Ryan at the Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York County as a PIAA qualifier as a freshman a year ago.
The Ryan brothers figure to be among the contenders for the District One Class AAA title when the championship tees off Monday at Turtle Creek Golf Club in Limerick. The field will be cut after Monday’s first round with a second round to be played Tuesday. The talent runs deep in District One. It should be a very interesting couple of days at the Turtle. I’m hoping to head up there Tuesday for the final round and do a little live blogging.
Jake Rotelle of Honey Brook, coming off his first career Junior Tour victory last weekend at Gilbertsville, carded an 81 to finish fourth. Matthew Feeney of West Chester and Travis Dix of Howell, N.J. shared fifth place, each posting an 83.
Adam MacMillan of Cranbury, N.J. finished seventh with an 85, George Wicks IV of Phoenixville was eighth with an 87, Leo Brunk of Newtown was ninth with an 88 and another Newtown entry, Kyle Schlegel, rounded out the top 10 as he took 10th with a 92.
Keller Mulhern, who has been a contributor as a freshman on a strong Malvern Prep team this fall, topped the field in the 13-to-15 division with a 4-over 74 that included birdies at the 11th and 15th holes. Dylan Kochis, like Mulhern an Exton resident, was the runnerup with a 77.
Zachary Sandler of Gladwyne and Christian Matt of Springhouse finished in a tie for third, each carding a 78. Adrian Jordan of Lawrenceville, N.J. took fifth with a 79, Kristof Kopecky of Garnet Valley was sixth with an 80, Liam Buckley of Media was seventh with an 82 and Jackson Reid of Bryn Mawr was eighth with an 83.
Daniel Shin of Horsham was ninth with an 84 and Ryan Garvey of Media and Kevin Lafond of Blue Bell rounded out the top 10 as they finished tied for 10th, each posting an 85.
Grace Manchester of Lederach was the only entrant in the girls 16-to-18 division, winning with a 98 that included pars on the 11th and 15th holes.
Abigail Lynn of Furlong bested the field in the 13-to-15 division with a 94 that included back-to-back pars at the 10th and 11th holes.
Mary Grace Dunigan of Kennett Square was three shots behind Lynn in second with a 97. Stefania Fedun of Glenmoore took third with a 105 and Amelia Loninger of Team Loninger of Crosswicks, N.J. was fourth with a 108.
Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J. bested the field of nine-holers in a scorecard playoff after he and Samuel Feeney of West Chester’s Team Feeney, each posted a 5-over 41. Marshall’s total of 25 for the final six holes gave him the tiebreaker edge.
Hank Kancher of Philadelphia and Hunter Probst of Bear Creek shared third place, each landing on 42. Probst had won his last six Junior Tour starts and didn’t miss making it seven straight by much.
Jolie Pastorick of Rydal finished fifth with a 43, J.P. Hoban of Havertown and Hunter Stetson of Newtown Square ended up in a tie for sixth at 44 and Mason Tucker of York was eighth with a 46.
Jillian Burks of Paoli took ninth with a 47 and Grady Hearn of Greentown and Owen Tilsner of Warminster rounded out the top 10 as they finished in a tie for 10th at 48.
