McGarry finds Laurel Creek to his liking in Junior Tour victory

   The Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Laurel Creek Country Club in Mount Laurel, N.J. didn’t have the rain that plagued a simultaneous Junior Tour event at Indian Valley Country Club on the Montgomery County side of Telford Tuesday, but it wasn’t exactly perfect conditions, either.

   Finian McGarry of Haddonfield, N.J., with the kind of name that would make you think he would like the decidedly cool and cloudy weather you would associate with The Open Championship, made par on the last three holes to finish off a solid 4-over-par 75 over the 6,518-yard, par-71 Laurel Creek layout and take top honors in the 16-to-18 division. It was McGarry’s second straight Junior Tour win.

   Maxwell Rubin of Marlton, N.J. and Will Gerity of Yardley shared runnerup honors, each finishing two shots behind McGarry with a 77.

   Alec Ryden of Moorestown, N.J. and Griffin Fall of Yardley finished tied for fourth, each posting a 79, and Logan Hay of Bordentown, N.J. and Tyler Geatens of Williamstown, N.J. shared sixth place at 81.

   Alex Mayernik of Columbus, N.J. and Ethan Finkelstein of Yardley finished tied for eighth, each posting an 82 and Jack Gerity, another member of Yardley’s Team Gerity – both Class of 2020, so twins maybe? – and Colton Murray of Sewell, N.J. rounded out the top 10 as both landed on 83.

   Zachary Loninger headed up a really solid showing for Team Loninger of Crosswicks, N.J. as he fired a 5-over 76 to take top honors in the 13-to-15 division. Loninger’s 35 on the back nine matched par and helped him claim his first Junior Tour win.

   Lee Gerber Jr. of Marlton, N.J. was the runnerup, a shot behind Loninger with a 77. Jack Tarzy of Medford, N.J. finished third with a 78.

   Henry Stone of Kennett Square and Tyler Smith of Maple Shade, N.J. finished tied for fourth, each carding an 81 and there was a three-way tie for sixth at 83 among Jack Ross of Medford Lakes, N.J., Robert Dominy of Moorestown, N.J. and Adrian Jordan of Lawrenceville, N.J.

   Joshua Cicco of Yardley took ninth with an 84 and Christopher Myers of Yardley rounded out the top 10 with an 85.

   Another member of Crosswicks’ Team Loninger, Kayla Loninger, was the only girl to tee it up outside of the nine-holers, and her 97 gave her a win in the girls 13-to-15 division. Her round included a par on the tough, par-5 ninth at Laurel Creek.

   Hank Kancher of Philadelphia made par on the par-3 seventh on his way to an 11-over 47 that gave him the top spot among the nine-holers. Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J. was the runnerup with a 50 and Justin Forman of Sewell, N.J. placed third with a 52.

   Two more entries from Crosswicks’ Team Loninger, Amelia Loninger and Samantha Loninger, accounted for the next two spots on the leaderboard as Amelia Loninger finished fourth with a 55 and Samantha Loninger took fifth with a 57.

   Joseph Collazo of Mount Laurel, N.J. finished sixth with a 65.
