Martin battles through the rain to claim Junior Tour win at Indian Valley

   A little rain wasn’t going to stop the players competing in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Indian Valley Country Club in Telford Tuesday from completing their appointed rounds.

   Nick Martin of Audubon got off to a good start when it was still relatively dry, making a birdie on the third hole while posting an even-par 36 on the front nine. That enabled Martin to card a 2-over-par 74 over the 6,355-yard, par-72 Indian Valley layout that gave him the top spot in the 16-to-18 division.

   Harriton junior Andrew Wallace and Nikita Romanov of Wilmington, Del. shared second place, as each finished a shot behind Martin at 3-over 75. Eshan Jituri of Lower Gwynedd finished fourth with a 78, Joshua Smith of Harleysville was fifth with a 79, Matthew Fleming of Richboro was sixth with an 81 and Evan Kreiser of Telford was seventh with an 82.

   Ryan Woelfling of Myerstown finished eighth with an 83, Cooper Kelley of Dallas was ninth with an 84 and Dylan Lasescki of Lansdale rounded out the top 10, taking 10^th with an 88.

   Luke Watson of Royersford battled the elements to make a bogey on his final hole and it gave him a one-shot edge on Strath Haven sophomore Jackson Debusschere and a victory in the 13-to-15 division. Debusschere had seven pars on a solid back nine as he finished with a 78.

   Scott Hughes of Ambler finished third with a 79, Brendan Bauer of Hilltown was fourth with an 80 and Luke Corcoran of Lansdale and Connor Gherghel of Orwigsburg shared fifth place, each carding an 81.

   Christian Matt of Springhouse finished seventh with an 82, Darren Nolan of Glenside was eighth with an 83, Andrew Lauerman of North Wales was ninth with an 83 and Blake Stewart of Perkasie rounded out the top 10, finishing 10^th with an 85.

   Helen Shaw of Harleysville was the only entrant in the girls 16-to-18 division and her 105 featured a solid 49 on the back nine.

   Madilyn Siuta of Coopersburg captured top honors in the 13-to-15 division in a scorecard playoff with Abigail Lynn of Furlong after each carded an 88. Siuta birdied the 16^th hole on her way to a back-nine 43 that gave her the tiebreaker edge.

   Nadia Poncy of Tequesta, Fla. finished third with a 91 and Ciera Toomey of Dunmore was fourth with a 98.

   Nicholas Gross of Downingtown continued his dominance among the nine-holers, but for the second time in a little over a week he had to hold off little brother Evan Gross to claim the win. Nicholas Gross made pars on 10, 14, 15 and 17 on his way to a 6-over 42 while Evan Gross finished strong with pars on 14, 15, 16 and 18 in posting an 8-over 44.

   Another member of Wallingford’s Team Debusschere, Tyler Debusschere, finished third with a 50, Rachel Joyce of Quakertown was fourth with a 51 and another member of Team Lauerman of North Wales, Connor Lauerman, was fifth with a 55.
