Zhu breaks par in Junior Tour win at Morgan Hill

Franklin Zhu of Warren, N.J. had to go under par to capture the 13-to-15 age group in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Sunday at Morgan Hill Golf Course in Easton.
Zhu didn’t have a bogey on his back-nine card, going 1-under 35, on his way to a 1-under 70 over the 6,320-yard, par-71 Morgan Hills layout. And Zhu had to be a par-buster to deny Central York freshman Carson Bacha a weekend sweep on the Junior Tour. Bacha, who was the 13-to-15 winner in a Junior Tour stop Saturday at Galen Hall Golf Club in Wernersville, carded an even-par 71 at Morgan Hill, but had to settle for runnerup honors.
William Pabst of Roaring Brook Township finished third with a 74, Jack Cooley of Chadds Ford was fourth with a 76, Nicholas Hano of Warrington was fifth with a 78 and Bobby Lugiano of Jackson Township was sixth with a 79.
Jake Maddaloni of Newtown Square finished seventh with an 80, Luke Watson of Royersford took eighth with an 84, Noah Sim of Ambler was ninth with an 85 and Jack Fialko of Berwyn rounded out the top 10 with an 86.
Alec Ryden of Moorestown, N.J. took top honors in the 16-to-18 division as he made three birdies, including two on a bogey-free front nine, while carding a 4-over 75. Matthew Bricker of York was the runnerup, a shot back of Ryden with a 5-over 76.
Michael Gallagher of Mountainside, N.J. finished third with a 78, Brett Wagner of Cresco was fourth with a 79 and Blaine Weaver of Myerstown and Michael Festa of Ambler shared fifth place, each carding an 81.
Jordan Pick of Sugarloaf finished seventh with an 82, Timothy Chaykosky Jr. of Ambler was eighth with an 84, Simon Asadoorian of Richboro was ninth with an 86 and Caleb Clements of Lancaster rounded out the top 10 with an 88.
Olivia Patrow of East Stroudsburg birdied the par-5 13th hole on her way to an 87 that gave her the victory in the girls 16-to-18 division. Emma Nemitz of Madison Township was the runnerup with a 94.
Natasha Kiel birdied the par-4 eighth hole as she made her Junior Tour debut a winning one, taking top honors in the 13-to-15 division with an 83. Grace Babinchak of Hazleton was the runnerup with a 91.
Among the nine-holers, Benjamin Saggers of West Chester made it a weekend sweep as he birdied the par-5 first hole on his way to a 3-over 38, adding a win at Morgan Hill to the one he picked up Saturday at Galen Hall. Michael Maslanka of Taylor was the runnerup with a 43.
Nicholas Gross of Downingtown and Gwendolyn Powell of Madison Township shared third place, each carding a 44. Julien de Brechard of Brooklyn, N.Y. finished fifth with a 46, Connor Gherghel of Orwigsburg was sixth with a 50, Hunter Probst of Bear Creek was seventh with a 52, Samuel Cottone of Wayne took eighth with a 54 and Andrew Donohue of Collegeville was ninth with a 58.
