Ryden finishes 2016 Junior Tour schedule with a flourish

The Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour got one more event in for 2016 Sunday at Mainland Golf Club in Harleysville and Alec Ryden made the most of the opportunity with a 6-over-par 76 to take top honors in the 16-to-18 division.
Ryden nearly drove the green at the short par-4 12th, but still turned that into his only birdie of the day over the 6,146-yard, par-70 Mainland layout as he finished a shot ahead of Nikita Romanov of Wilmington, Del., who had a 77.
As I mentioned in my post on Saturday’s stop at Foxchase Golf Club, Romanov was recently named the Junior Tour Player of the Year in the 13-to-15 age group. I’ll wrap up the season award winners in a post later this week.
Frankie Markiewicz of Middletown, Del. place third with a 79, David Shaffer of Warrington was fourth with an 81, Simon Asadoorian of Richboro was fifth with an 84 and James Poot of Pottstown was sixth with a 92.
Rounding out the top 10 were four players – Radnor High junior Daniel Bullock, Michael Festa of Ambler, Evan Kreiser of Telford and Justin Panner of Harleysville – tied for seventh, each carding a 96.
Stephen Lorenzo of Lower Gwynedd had a birdie on his way to a 77 that gave him the title in the 13-to-15 division. Darren Nolan of Glenside and Dylan Gooneratne of Plymouth Meeting shared second place at 78, just a shot back of Lorenzo.
Nicholas Hano of Warrington finished fourth with an 82, Joseph Morganti of Havertown took fifth with an 83, Matthew Lafond of Blue Bell was sixth with an 85 and Jack Cooley of Chadds Ford was seventh with an 86.
Kevin Motil of Sewell, N.J. finished eighth with a 92, Mason Asadoorian of Richboro was ninth with a 96 and James Omalley of Harleysville rounded out the top 10 by finishing alone in 10th with a 99.
Lindsey Forgarasi of Collegeville birdied the par-4 seventh hole on her way to a 97 that gave her the victory in the girls’ 16-to-18 division. Savanna Haas was the runnerup with a 112.
Eden Richmond of Princeton, N.J. was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and her 99 earned her the victory.
Among the nine-holers, Ajeet Bagga of Blue Bell had seven pars in a 2-over 37 that earned him the win. Nicholas Gross of Downingtown was the runnerup with a 38, capping a strong weekend that saw him win the division Saturday at Foxchase.
Kristof Kopecky of Garnet Valley finished third with a 39, Aaron Skii of West Chester was fourth with a 40 and Zachary Sandler of Gladwyne and Benjamin Saggers of West Chester shared fifth place, each posting a 42.
Winston Kelenc-Blank of Rumson, N.J. took seventh with a 44, Sydney Yermish of Wynnewood was eighth with a 45, Hunter Probst of Bear Creek was ninth with a 46 and Henry Stone of Kennett Square rounded out the top 10, finishing alone in 10th with a 48.
