Pochet's game warms up in Junior Tour win at Foxchase

   Despite temperatures in the 40s, Spring-Ford junior Ben Pochet carded a 3-over-par 75 to take top honors in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Saturday at Foxchase Golf Club in Stevens.

   Pochet had a strong fall on the scholastic scene, earning back-to-back individual titles in Class AAA at the District One and East Regional tourneys and leading the Rams to the district team title. Pochet had three birdies over the 6,421-yard, par-72 Foxchase layout to finish a shot ahead of William Mirams of Stroudsburg, who had a 76.

   Mason Wills of Lititz took third with a 77, Jordan Weisman of Malvern was fourth with a 89 and Logan Hess of Willow Street and Shaun Fedor of Lancaster shared fifth place, each posting an 81.

Nikita Romanov of Wilmington, Del., moving up to the older age group after being named the Player of the Year in the 13-to-15 age group (more on the season-ending awards in a post later this week), finished seventh with an 83.

   Benjamin Sheard of Elizabethtown took eighth with an 84, Alex VanScoy of Newark, Del. was ninth with an 87, Michael Festa of Ambler was 10^th with an 88 and James Poot of Pottstown and Andrew Koh of Drersher finished in a tie for 11^th at 89.

   The best score of the day belonged to Logan Paczewski of Dallas, who won the 13-to-15 division with a 2-over 74. Paczewski battled back from an eight to record a pair of birdies on each nine. Derek McGlaughlin of Elizabethtown was the runnerup with an 81.

   William Pabst of Roaring Brook Township finished third with an 84, Graham Calhoun of Lititz was fourth with an 87, Darren Nolan of Glenside was fifth with a 90 and Kevin Motil of Sewell, N.J. was sixth with a 95.

   Brady Ross of Feasterville took seventh with a 101, Stephane de Brechard of Brooklyn was eighth with a 103, Clay Breidenstine of Hummelstown was ninth with a 104 and Julian Lauver of Lancaster rounded out the top 10, finishing 10^th with a 112.

   Nicholas Gross bested the field of nine-holers by making six pars on his way to a solid 3-over 38. Winston Kelenc-Blank of Rumson, N.J. and Sawyer Marten of East Petersburg shared second place, each carding a 40.

   Zachary Sandler of Gladwyne and Sydney Yermish of Wynnewood finished in a tie for fourth, each posting a 45. Julien de Brechard of Brooklyn took sixth with a 46, Megan Adelman of Bryn Mawr was seventh with a 48, Hunter Probst of Bear Creek was eighth with a 49 and Ava O’Sullivan of Exton was ninth with a 55.
