Ingraham, Sydnes get share of first at Pro-Junior Championship

   Stu Ingraham, the head of instruction at the M Golf Range in Newtown Square, and Mike Sydnes, who helped Radnor capture Class AAA District One and PIAA team titles last fall, teamed up to share first place in the Philadelphia Section PGA’s Pro-Junior Championship at Spring-Ford Country Club Thursday.

   Ingraham and Sydnes, coming off a Philadelphia Junior Tour victory at The Springhaven Club earlier in the week, carded a net 8-under 64 in the better-ball-of-partners event to finish in a tie for the top spot with the Whitford Country Club pair of assistant pro Andrew Turner and Nicky Marrollo and the Pitman Golf Club duo of Orist Wells and Shea Wolfle.

   The three pairs also had the top three gross scores, but the event handed out prizes in one division or the other. The Bent Creek Country Club pair of Bill Kindoll and Jack Marchant claimed the gross prize with a 5-under 67. They finished in a tie for fifth in the net scoring at 6-under 66 with the Blue Bell Country Club pair of Jim Parella and Buddy Hansen, who was coming off Philadelphia Junior Tour victories in each of the preceding two days.

   The St. Davids Golf Club duo of Mike Paukovits and Conor Rinehart finished alone in fourth place in the net division with a 7-under 65. Rinehart will be fighting for a spot in the Radnor starting lineup this fall.

   Rich Steinmetz, the head pro at host Spring-Ford, and Drew Steinmetz were among four teams tied for seventh at 5-under 67. Also at 67 were the Phoenixville Country Club pair of Gregg Gipp and Ryan McCabe, the Country Club of York duo of Terry Hertzog and Justin Hertzog and the Trenton Country Club team of Brendan White and Charlie Kovalcik.

   The Aronimink Golf Club duo of Bryan Kienke and Episcopal Academy freshman Case Hummer finished in a tie for 11^th with the Rivercrest Golf Club & Preserve team of Kyle Miller and David Antoniuk at 4-under 68.
