Halleron breezes to Junior Tour victory at Rehoboth Beach



   Starting to catch up on the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour’s week in Delaware, beginning with Monday’s Rehoboth Junior Open.

    Jack Halleron of Timonium, Md. was the only player under par in capturing the 16-to-18 division at the Rehoboth Junior Open Monday. Gusty winds made the 6,385-yard, par-72 Rehoboth Beach Country Club layout especially tough, but Halleron was able to fire a 2-under 70 to finish six shots clear of runnerup Liam Powderly of Cockeysville, Md., who had a 4-over 76.
    Brady Erb of Conestoga finished third with a 77, Matthew Chalupa of Landenberg finished fourth and Johnson Cocchett of Wyoming, Del. and Caleb Ryan of Norristown shared fifth place, each carding an 87. Jacob Kraus of Sewell, N.J. and Timothy Chaykosky Jr. of Ambler finished tied for seventh at 85, Devin Sanders of Camden, Del. finished ninth with an 87 and Nathan Potts of Wilmington, Del. rounded out the top 10 with an 89.
    Alex Mulrooney of Wilmington, Del. topped the field in the 13-to-15 division with a 5-over 77. Mulrooney finished a shot ahead of D.J. Scott of Kennett Square, who had a 78.
    Connor Young of Wilmington, Del. finished third with an 82, Logan Hess of Willow Street took fourth with an 83, Connor Edie of Lititz placed fifth with an 85 and Nikita Romanov of Wilmington, Del. was sixth with a 90.
   Roy Anderson of Chadds Ford finished seventh with a 91, Nathan Lutz of Middletown, Del. was eighth with a 95, Matthew Johnson of Newark, Del. took ninth with a 98 and Kristoffer Mullung of Middletown, Del. rounded out the top 10 with a 105.
   Molly Holbert of Mechanicsburg captured top honors in the girls 16-to-18 division with an 88. Grace Stillman of Lancaster finished second with a 92, Casey Oppenheimer of Conshohocken took third with a 98 and Sophia Campbell of Dover, Del. claimed fourth with a 106.
   Christina Carroll of Bear, Del. won the 13-to-15 division in a match of cards with Olivia Schwandt of Wilmington, Del. after each carded a 100. It was Carroll’s third Junior Tour win of the year.
Among the nine-holers, Joshua Ryan of Norristown continued his domination of the division, carding a 4-over 40 for his seventh Junior Tour win of the year.
   Hannah Lydic of Ocean View, Del. finished second with a 44, Matthew Homer of Wilmington, Del. took third with a 48 and Will Slavin of Middletown, Del. ended up in fourth with a 55. Jeffrey Homer of Wilmington, Del. and Anthony Liconte of Wilmington, Del. finished in a tie for fifth, each carding a 51, Bret Bergey of Downingtrown finished seventh with a 54 and Maceo Giampietro of Malvern and Joey Suarez of Downingtown finished in a tie for eighth at 63.
