Vinson fires 77 at Woodcrest to claim a Junior Tour victory

   James Vinson of Princeton Junction, N.J. carded a solid 6-over-par 77 to capture top honors in the 13-to-15 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Sunday at Woodcrest Country Club, a William Flynn design in Cherry Hill, N.J.

   Vinson birdied the ninth hole on his way to the victory over the 6,332-yard, par-71 Woodcrest layout. Zachary Sandler of Gladwyne birdied the fourth hole on his way to an 81 that gave him runnerup honors, four shots behind Vinson.

   Shane Lawler, coming off a solid sophomore season at Episcopal Academy, and Joshua Cicco of Yardley shared third place, each carding an 83. Nathan Guertler of Merchantville, N.J. finished fifth with an 84, Adrian Jordan of Lawrenceville, N.J. was sixth with an 85, Robert Dominy of Moorestown, N.J. was seventh with an 87 and Joseph Fargnoli of Mickleton, N.J. was eighth with an 88.

   Rounding out the top 10 were three players – Radnor sophomore Rishi Khanna, Matthew Van Istendal of Haddon Heights, N.J. and Cyrus Parvizi of Gladwyne – who finished tied for ninth, each posting a 93.

   Travis Dix of Howell, N.J. birdied the 13^th hole on his way to a 7-over 78 that earned him the victory in the 16-to-18 division. Andrew Koh of Dresher had a pair of birdies, one on each side, to claim runnerup honors, just a shot behind Dix with a 79.

   James Dalzell of Linwood, N.J. finished alone in third with an 83 and Brian Pelose of Haddonfield, N.J., Carl Ernst of Mickleton, N.J. and Colton Murray of Sewell, N.J. finished in a tie for fourth, each carding an 84.

   Ricky Calve of Oceanport, N.J. finished alone in seventh with an 86 and Christopher Myers of Yardley and Michael Mitnick of Linwood, N.J. each landed on 87 in a tie for eighth. Rounding out the top 10 was Ryan Rearden, another Yardley guy, with an 88 that left him alone in 10^th place.

   Julie Ergood of Mount Laurel, N.J. finished atop the girls 16-to-18 division with a 105 for her first career Junior Tour victory. Ergood’s round was highlighted by a par on the par-5 11^th hole. Josie Genuardi of Kulpsville was the runnerup with a 110.

   Heather Styslinger of Valley Forge finished third with a 118 and Rachael Kraly of Sweetwater, N.J. was fourth with a 147.

   Hunter Probst of Bear Creek, who has been dominating the nine-holers recently, got another victory in a scorecard tiebreaker with Justin Forman of Sewell, N.J. after each player carded an 8-over 43. Probst’s 27 strokes on the final six holes proved to be decisive in the tiebreaker.

   Rhianna Gooneratne of Plymouth Meeting, J.P. Hoban of Havertown and Tommy Marshall of Marlton, N.J. finished in a tie for third at 47. Hank Kancher of Philadelphia finished alone in sixth with a 48 and Jack Cranmer of Riverton, N.J. and Hunter Stetson of Newtown Square shared seventh place, each posting a 49.

   Elora Walker of Philadelphia and Jamie Ciesielka of Woolwich Township, N.J. finished in a tie for ninth at 55 and Ravi Khanna of Bryn Mawr’s Team Khanna finished 11^th with a 65.
