Stone fires 74 at Foxchase to claim a Junior Tour victory

   Henry Stone of Kennett Square had a pair of birdies on his way to a 2-over-par 74 for the low round of the day as he captured top honors in the 13-to-15 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Foxchase Golf Club in Stevens, Lancaster County Saturday.

   It was Stone’s third straight victory on the Junior Tour. Matthew Normand of Lumberton, N.J. was the runnerup with an 80.

   Stone and Normand are keeping their games sharp as they prepare to compete in the PGA Junior League Championship, presented by National Car Rental, at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. from Nov. 16 to 19.

   Stone and Normand are members of the Delaware I team under PGA captain Dave Seeman, who runs the junior program at Hartefeld National Golf Club. After capturing the sectional title at Cedarbrook Country Club, Delaware I claimed the regional crown at LedgeRock Golf Club last month to punch its ticket to Grayhawk.

   I’m still gathering intel from the LedgeRock victory. I’ll try to report on how Delaware I fares in the championship at some point next month. For some reason, I called Henry Stone Harry in the post I did on the sectional event at Cedarbrook. But the great thing about a blog post is, if you find a mistake, even six weeks later, you can fix it with a keystroke.

   Jack Novis of Lancaster finished third with an 82 and Adrian Jordan of Lawrenceville, N.J. and Daniel Shin of Horsham shared fourth place, each carding an 83. Connor Gherghel, a freshman at Blue Mountain who teed it up in last week’s PIAA Class AAA East Regional at Golden Oaks Golf Club, finished alone in sixth with an 84.

   Keith Nelton of Malvern, Kevin Lafond of Blue Bell and Alex Gekas of York finished in a tie for seventh, each posting an 86. Steven Coelho of Malvern rounded out the top 10 as he finished alone in 10^th with an 88.

   Will Hage of Phoenixville earned his first career Junior Tour victory by capturing the 16-to-18 division with a 3-over 75. Hage started on No. 7 in the shotgun start and went 1-under for his first nine holes. Tyler Peters of Berlin, N.J. was the runnerup with a 78.

   Luke Connors of Garnet Valley and Channing Bratton of Felton shared third place, each signing for a 79. Penn Manor senior Logan Hess, another player who made it to the PIAA East Regional at Golden Oaks, and Gavin Harvey of Jacobus finished in a tie for fifth at 80.

   Adam MacMillan of Cumberland, N.J. finished seventh with an 84, Joshua Brauer of Royersford was eighth with an 85 and Matt Walsh of Chester Springs was ninth with an 88. Kevin Deng of Newtown Square, Strath Haven sophomore Jackson Debusschere and Nikita Romanov of Wilmington, Del. rounded out the top 10, ending up in a tie for 10^th at 89.

   Peyton Kraras of Wyomissing carded an 85, her low round in Junior Tour play, to win the girls 16-to-18 division. McKylie Boreman of New Cumberland was the runnerup with a 97.

Stefania Fedun of Glenmoore was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and claimed the victory with a 93.

   Mason Tucker of York fired a 7-over 42 to best the field of nine-holers, going back-to-back for the first time. Jolie Pastorick of Rydal and Hunter Probst of Bear Creek each posted a 47 to share runnerup honors.

   Reed Krosse, another York entry, finished fourth with a 48 and Jax Puskar of Kennett Square and Sean Curran of Newtown Square finished in a tie for fifth, each coming in at 50.
