Lennon, Brinker team up to capture Pro-Junior at Concord

The Philadelphia Section PGA’s Pro-Junior was played Aug. 10 at Concord Country Club, but I didn’t want to let it pass by in the midst of all the golf this week.
Wilmington Country Club pro Bob Lennon and his junior partner Ty Brinker captured the Pro-Junior title with a net total of 10-under-par 61. They needed to be that good because the runnerup team of Merion Golf Club head of instruction Mark Sheftic and Strath Haven sophomore Kevin Smith had a pretty good round themselves and finished just a shot behind the winners with a 9-under 62.
Stu Ingraham, the head of instruction at the M Golf Range in Newtown Square and Ryan McCabe finished third at 8-under 63. Ingraham will defend his title in the Philadelphia Senior PGA Championship next week at Radnor Valley Country Club.
The Stonewall team of head pro Ryan Langergren and Jack Murray, who plays at The Hill School and occasionally grabs a loop at the Wall, headed a group of four teams tied for fourth at 7-under 64.
Joining the Stonewall duo at 7-under were Hugh Mathis of Tavistock Country Club and Mary McGuiness, Jeff Haas of Golf Cart Services, Inc. and Savanna Haas and Mike Paukovitrs of St. Davids Golf Club and Conor Rinehart, a member of the Radnor’s Central League championship team as a senior last fall.
Three more teams finished tied for ninth at 5-under 66, including Joey Pohle of Blue Bell Country Club and Anthony Barr, Chip Richter of Carlisle Country Club and Paige Richter, and Charlie Luis of GolfTEC King of Prussia and Jacob Sokalsky, another Central League player coming off a strong freshman season, in Sokalsky’s case at Garnet Valley.
Robert Kleckner of Linfield National Golf Club and Joshua Ryan, who will be a welcome addition at Norristown this season after a strong summer of junior golf, headed a group of six teams tied for 12th at 4-under 67.
Also in the group tied at 4-under were: Michael Caldwell of Bidermann Golf Club and Henry Stone; Dan Allan of Burlington Country Club and Andrew Parris; Terry Hertzog, the head pro at The Country Club of York and Justin Hertzog; Bill Sautter of Philadelphia Cricket Club and Jimmy Sautter; and Mike Ladden of Whitford Country Club and Jake Ladden. I’m guessing there were a couple of father-son combos in that group.
