Warner, Kan claim titles in Harry Hammond Invitational

   Christopher Warner of Medford, N.J. captured the boys 13-to-18 division in dramatic fashion at the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour’s 15^th annual Harry Hammond Invitational Tuesday at Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford.

   The Harry Hammond, named for the PGA Master Professional and director of golf at Penn Oaks Golf Club, is open to boys and girls who have finished first or second in a Junior Tour event in the last two years. Hammond has always been a huge supporter of junior golf and was on hand to present plaques to the winners.

   Warner and Dawson Anders of Telford both toured the 6,509-yard, par-72 Wyncote layout in 3-under 69 to force a playoff for the boys title. Both players hit the par-5 first hole in two and Warner rolled in his eagle putt to take the title.

   Radnor’s Michael Sydnes, who is having a strong summer leading into his senior season, was a shot back in third with a 2-under 70. J.T. Spina of Schwenksville and Shravann Raja of Moorestown, N.J. also bettered par at Wyncote as they shared fourth place at 1-under 71. Zachary Barbin of Elkton, Md. matched par with a 72 to finish alone in sixth place.

   Andrew Gallagher of Mount Laurel, N.J. took seventh with a 73 and Andrew Forjan of  York, Frederick Hammer of Wayne and Evan McNally of Medford, N.J. rounded out the top 10 as they finished tied for eighth at 74.

   On the girls side, Chichester senior Caprian Kan was the winner with a steady 82 that featured nine pars. Kan finished a shot ahead of runnerup Kendel Abrams of New Freedom, who had an 83. Kan is coming off her assignment as the caddy for older sister Aurora in the U.S. Women’s Amateur at Rolling Green Golf Club.

   Brianna Marmorstein, a junior on perennial Inter-Ac League champion Notre Dame, finished third with an 85. Casey Oppenheimer of Conshohocken was fourth with an 88, Alexandra Lowder of Wrightsville took fifth with an 89, Grace Hickey of Downingtown placed sixth with a 94 and Megan Duman of Moorestown, N.J. was seventh with a 95.

   Elise Glauser of Newark, Del. finished eighth with a 98 and Savanna Haas of Pottstown and Olivia Raihl of Wernersville rounded out the top 10 as they were tied for ninth at 99.
