Applebrook Golf Club head pro Dave McNabb claimed his first
Philadelphia Section PGA victory of the season Monday at Fieldstone Golf Club
when he defeated Stu Ingraham, the head of instruction at the M Golf Range in
Newtown Square, on the second hole of a playoff to win the Connelly Cup Head
Pro Championship.
McNabb and Ingraham both posted 4-under 67s over the 6,352-yard,
par-71 Fieldstone layout in Greenville, Del.
Radnor Valley Country Club head pro George Forster finished
a shot out of the playoff in third with a 3-under 68 and Adam Brigham of
Waynesborough Country Club was alone in fourth with a 1-under 70.
Five players matched par at 71 and finished in a tie for
fifth. They were: Eric Kennedy of Overbrook Golf Club; Jamie Komancheck of
RiverCrest Golf Club & Preserve; Hugh Mathis of Tavistock Country Club;
Michael Ferguson of the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course; and
Dustin McCormick of Glen Brook Golf Club.
Dave Quinn of Links Golf Club rounded out the top 10 with a
1-over 72.
The Connelly Cup is named for longtime Section pro Jack
Connelly, a past president of the PGA.
It appears Ingraham and Forster have their games in good
shape as they prepare to represent the Section in the Senior PGA Championship
presented by KitchenAid later this month at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor,
Mich.
The two earned spots in the Champions Tour major with high
finishes at the PGA Senior Professional National Championship presented by
Mercedes Benz USA at Bayonet & Black Horse in Seaside, Calif. last fall.
It will be the 11th time Forster has teed it up
in a Champions Tour major while Ingraham has appeared in at least two dozen
national PGA events and will adding to that total.
