Andrew Brendlinger, a senior on the Perkiomen Valley golf team, moved from one end of Mount Laurel Township in South Jersey to another, but was just as dominant.
Brendlinger, coming off a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour victory in impressive fashion a day earlier at Laurel Creek Country Club, captured the top spot in the 16-to-18 division with a 2-under-par 70 July 22nd at Ramblewood Country Club.
Brendlinger made a birdie at the fifth hole, went back-to-back with birdies at seven and eight, added birdies at 10 and 15 and had 10 pars on his scorecard.
The two players who chased Brendlinger at Laurel Creek, Christopher Parrish, a senior at Kingsway and a Woolwich Township, N.J. resident, and Landon Finsen of Westampton, N.J., were in the hunt again at Ramblewood as they finished among a trio of players tied for second place by matching par with a 72.
Parrish made birdies on the second, fifth, 12th and 15th holes and had 10 pars on his card. Finsen made birdies on the third, 12th and 15th holes and had 13 pars on his card, including a run of eight straight pars from four through 11.
Rounding out the trio at even-par was Jamie Ciesielka, another Woolwich Township, N.J. guy, as he made a birdie on the 17th hole and had 16 pars on his card, including a streak of 10 straight pars from seven through 16.
Tre Lesperance, who wrapped up his scholastic career at Unionville last fall, and St. Joseph’s Prep senior John Diamond, a Philadelphia resident and a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, finished in a tie for fifth place, each posting a 1-over 73.
Diamond’s St. Joseph’s Prep teammate Gregory Kriz, a junior and an Oreland resident, and Logan Cassidy, a junior on the Holy Ghost Prep golf team and a Bensalem resident, finished in a tie for seventh place, each signing for a 4-over 76.
Rounding out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division were Ravi Gohel, playing not far from his Mount Laurel, N.J. home, and Jason Piccoli of Berlin, N.J. as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each tallying a 77.
Villanova’s Sokol twins went 1-2 at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division as Henry Sokol claimed a Philly Junior Tour victory with his 4-over 76 and Jack Sokol finished three shots behind his brother in second place with a 79.
Henry Sokol made birdies on the third, seventh, ninth and 17th holes and had seven pars on his scorecard. Jack Sokol made birdies on the third, ninth and 15th holes and also had seven pars on his card.
David Padgett of Barnegat, N.J. had 11 pars on his card as he finished a shot behind Jack Sokol in third place with an 80.
Brayden Hughes of Hockessin, Del. took fourth place with an 81, Owen Ciesielka, a West Chester resident and an incoming freshman at Malvern Prep, was fifth with an 82 and the duo of Will Simonson of Haddonfield, N.J. and Jason Leekley of Moorestown, N.J. finished in a tie for sixth, each recording an 83.
Lucas Solano of Vineland, N.J. took eighth place with an 84, Justin Stickel, a sophomore on the Council Rock South golf team, was ninth with an 85 and the duo of Noah Gates of Ardmore and Richad Davoli of Ambler rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as they finished in a tie for 10th, each signing for an 88.
The lightbulb has really gone on, golf-wise, for Madison Cabot of Newtown this summer as she had the best score among the girls, a sparkling 2-over 74 that left her at the top of the leaderboard in the girls 13-to-15 division.
It was a very efficient round for Madison Cabot at Ramblewood as she made birdies at the eighth and 13th holes and had 12 pars on her scorecard.
Mallie Heenan of Ocean City, N.J. and Gabrielle Kim of Ambler shared runnerup honors as each carded a solid 88. Heenan made a birdie on the seventh hole and had five pars on her card and Kim made a birdie at 12 and also had five pars on her card.
Rounding out the field in the 13-to-15 division was Naaya Patel of Moorestown, N.J. as she finished in fourth place with a 121.
Team Bernardi of Sewell, N.J. finished at the top of the leaderboard in the 16-to-18 division with Stella Bernardi earning a Philly Junior Tour victory with a 79, one shot better than Lydia Bernardi in second place with an 80.
Both Bernardis are Class of 2027 competitors, so maybe twins? I don’t know that for a fact, but it would be pretty cool to have two sets of twins finish 1-2 in different divisions in a Philly Junior Tour stop. Just sayin’.
Stella Bernardi made birdies on the first, seventh and 11th holes and had nine pars on her scorecard. Lydia Bernardi made birdies on the third and 12th holes and had 10 pars on her card, rattling off eight straight pars from four through 11.
Nicole Tarquinio of Bridgeton, N.J. had six pars on her card as she finished in third place with an 88.
Emily Renouf of Cinnaminson, N.J. rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as she took fourth place with a 102.
Brendlinger wasn’t the only player at Ramblewood to capture a second Philly Junior Tour victory in as many days.
Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J., who lit up the front nine at Laurel Creek a day earlier with a 3-under 33, was at it again at Ramblewood as he had seven pars on his scorecard to top the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers with a 2-over 38.
The trio of Jonanthan Thomas of Landenberg, Declan Mayo of Chadds Ford and Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr finished in a tie for second place, each ending up two shots behind Dollard with a 4-over 40.
Thomas made a birdie on the seventh hole and had four pars on his card and Mayo and Muego each had five pars on his card.
Matthew Bowman of Newtown took fifth place with a 44 and Aiden Cooper of Moorestown, N.J. rounded out the field in the boys 12-and-under division as he finished sixth with a 57.
Emilie Davoli, another member of Ambler’s Team Davoli, made a birdie on the sixth hole and a par at seven, as she bested a short field of girls 12-and-under nine-holers with a 45.
Charlotte Cabot, another member of Newtown’s Team Cabot, rounded out the field in the girls 12-and-under division as she opened her round with a par at the first hole while finishing in second place with a 61.
